Didn't the left wing parties drop out of the races they were third in to help ensure RN doesn't win those seats, whereas the Marcon's people stayed in the races they were in third in?

Will be interesting to see the final results.

Yeah will be fascinating to see the final results. Mostly

1 - how many people, if any, finished 3rd or lower in the 1st round but still won their race
2 - how many three way races did RN win but get < 50% of the vote indicating that the third place person should've dropped out

lol you can tell the graphics people on this one had expected RN to be the biggest piece and I guess rather than auto-adjusting stuff for the actual numbers they just went with what was prepared even though it didn't match the actual results

Absolutely. Even with the more disappointing outcome, this is the most seats the far right has ever achieved.

Moreover, the left coalition only did this well because they coalesced quickly, something Macron was planning against and hoping wouldn’t happen.

Reporting also suggests that Macron’s PM defied him and was the one who worked the phones to coordinate Macronists dropping out to block the far right. Macron didn’t lift a fucking finger. This result happened in spite of Macron’s dumb ass, not because of him.
