Death, taxes, death metal logo discourse in this thread making me slam my head against my desk.

 

You gotta admit that that one is pretty tough. I love it.

 

I misread this as “making me slam my head against my dick” and now I’m laughing so hard I have to leave the room

 

I don't get it and will never get it. Why wouldn't you want people to be able to look at a tour poster and know if you were playing or not? Without the text, I know bulldog is opening for a bunch of bands and that's literally it. Blah blah blah metal is fringe music blah blah if you were a fan, you'd know blah blah blah

 

I mean you can say blah blah blah but Peeling Flesh is really on the rise in the death metal world so everyone knows that logo, everyone knows what Sanguisugabogg’s logo looks like. Chances are that if you aren’t into metal you won’t like them anyway.

I saw that tour poster and knew who it was for immediately

 

I mean I'm being sort of facetious, but also not really.

I admit I have no idea who peeling flesh are (I'll check them out) and I know Sanguisugabogg as they're opening for Lorna so I checked them out. I have zero clue about their logos though to recognize them. I'll remember that Sunguisugabogg is angled to the right and just literal scribbling (because they're the only ones right?) Most of the time, I've got a playlist going though and I'm not even looking at the album art.

I enjoy left to suffer as well and they're doing a free album release show nearby and I almost missed it because on my first glance at the series I was like 'I don't know who that last band is as I can't read it'. Then it was posted somewhere else with text.

I mean this left to suffer one isn't too bad, but I didn't see it without the knowledge. Maybe? obvious in hindsight but I also zoomed in on this poster on the computer. On my phone... no clue.

 

In this scene you just kind of get used to the actual logo in place of writing it out. I can't think of Sanguisugabogg without seeing their logo on a poster now haha.

 

yeah I was sitting there trying to figure out everything and even I struggle and I listen to some of those bands like that

 

I can’t even be mean to Fresno because I learned recently that Fresno is a good scene for like death metal and hardcore used to be a little bigger but the hardcore bands moved on to other cities

 

No one complains they didnt write out McDonalds when they see the golden arches

Death metal logos are recognizable to the people that would potentially go to those shows.

 

Also (most) death metal bands aren't all that concerned with maximizing the attendance of their shows with people who can't read their logo/complain about it

 

They should be. My $25 is worth more than a non complainers. At least double by my metrics.

If it’s any indication for the full tour, the Norva in Norfolk, VA is doing a 2-for-1 sale for the Summer Slaughter stop on 7/15 (along with other shows this month and next).
