Good first listen, more than a few immediate standouts and a lot more that deserve repeat listens

More standouts on first listen than his last album for me and I adore that record. This is going to be in my rotation for a long time.

I seem to love everything this guy puts out, but "Oak Island" genuinely had me grinning from ear to ear

Really digging this. Feels appropriately "summer-y" for a Fourth of July release. The John Moreland duet is especially great, and I'm glad to see Moreland getting some spotlight. Hopefully it brings him some more listeners.

Also, petition for John Mayer to play lead guitar on the entire next Zach Bryan album.

Really loved this, more than I expected to, honestly. I like self-titled, but it was a step down from American Heartbreak for me. This one played all my tastes like a fiddle, though. (Getting Springsteen to essentially reprise "I'm on Fire"!? C'mon!) Overall, one of the strongest first-play impressions I've had in a minute.

Wow I found self-titled kinda sloppy and undercooked so I was expecting more of the same. These songs are so much better IMO. Some of his best ever on here. Pleasantly surprised!

  10. The self titled slander will not stand!

The 6 or 7 best songs on self titled are some of his best ever.

It's a great album, no question about it

It’s good but I can’t help but feel, for me, I need to hear something a bit different on the next album.

It’s hard to expect growth and change when he’s pumping out songs as fast as he is so maybe he gets a bit of a break and can explore a bit.

Three listens in! It's very good and will be perfect music for when the sun goes down later today. "Like Ida", "Oak Island", and all the duets are my favorites outside the singles.

I haven't loved a full project by him yet, this new one is no exception. He's a very wordy writer and it affects some of the choruses from being as punchy as they could be.

gonna throw this one on at the bday grill later, begging him to release a full band album that’s under 45 minutes for once though

First play through right now , it’s great. 28 is a straight up Isbell song in the best way.

I’ve listened to Better Days five times so far. Upon first listen, I immediately recognized John Mayer’s guitar work without even seeing the credit in the title. I think it was the third listen where I heard his backing vocals. What a beautiful song. I love this.
