Sure. But. Is that really a risk worth taking if you sincerely actually believe the alternative is a reactionary dictatorship?

Dems taking shit off autopilot for the first time in my memory would be a unique thrill, hard to imagine

  6. Heh, I feel like that would be a good way to make sure he doesn't.

If you're curious what I see across my Democrat friends, it's a lot of reposting of this kinda thing:

I genuinely don't think people are frightened enough by what's been going on lately. We're about to witness something monumentally life changing with whoever wins this November and in no way is it going to be a good thing.

A lot of those points are blunted by the choice being Kamala, the campaign money being the big one. That money can shift to her at the top of the ticket from what I have read.

I agree with the takes that Biden is not going to hint on dropping out unless it actually is affirmative he is going to do it. He says he is staying in but I have no doubts there are legit considerations going on behind the scenes, actively working out all the logistics on how an announcement like that would go about if that is what he decided to do.

It's like when someone is asked if they are running for President and they definitively say no, only to launch their campaign in the near future. They knew they were considering doing it but didn't want to throw the cards out there until it was set.

  16. <- still the cynic that doesn't think he's dropping out.

all these people do is run for things to get power, when they have it, they don't give it up

If Biden steps down and Harris becomes the nominee, she absolutely should tap Gov Beshear for her VP. He's won the last 2 gubernatorial races in deep red KY, the last time with a wider margin than his first run. Also, he's got to be "clean" considering we know if anything damning was in his closest, McConnell and other KY GOP folks would've found and brought it out during his 2 races. A Harris/Beshear ticket would be hard to beat.

The only way he drops out is if multiple billionaire donors pull their funding from the Dem party

Biden isn't dropping out because that's showing weakness and the Democrats are cowards who even with Biden in office right now won't make any meaningful changes.

I'm so ashamed that I'm part of this system.

The DNC convention is in August. 2nd debate isn’t until September. If it were flipped I’d say the chances are decent that he’d drop out if he had another poor performance right before the convention. I don’t see him dropping out in 5-6 weeks given he can just lie low and let this die down and hope something else breaks the news cycle between now and August.

Is he popular enough nationally to really make a difference? Not like he's from a swing state you are helping get votes for. Plus then I'd assume you'd be giving up a blue governor seat in a red state, but I don't know enough about Kentucky politics to know if a dem would be able to win after he's gone

Yeah you've got valid points. I'd honestly prefer a Harris/Whitmer ticket but I fear the sexism in this country wouldn't allow a co-female platform to be successful. It also would be very hard for KY to elect another Dem governor which is one of the reasons why I think he would be helpful--he was able to win in such a deep red state. But name ID would be an issue, and given the amount of time between now and election day, it'd be difficult to make that work. Taking into account the points you made, it'd prob be more feasible to have a Harris/Newsom ticket.
