Do people still do those? I thought we publicly shamed those people into hiding.

 

Hot take because the standing discourse is getting ridiculous. I think you should be able to file a complaint for this type of grievance. I just don’t think it has any merit and should be thrown out for that reason. One person can’t decide where US aid goes to because they travel some place, and it’s actually better if these idiots lose on the merits because these claims are frivolous and could be sanctionable (albeit probably not in Texas and Louisiana where many of the judges are also right wing activists)

 

This is all leading to not being able to challenge the government when they do things like lease public land or approve the willow project, because we just visit those public places. Not good at all, and the liberal judges signing into bad standing opinions because they think they’re getting wins is very bad for the future.

 

How much do we think Joe Biden actually doing something tangible about the Supreme Court would help him in the upcoming election?

(I think this is about as likely as him stepping aside, but still)

 

It would absolutely help him and he also won’t do it

 

Depends on how many moderates you think he’d lose from it. I think at this point, with the controversy around the corruption and the overturning of precedent along ideological lines, it’d be the perfect time To do it without alienating middle of the road don’t rock the boat folks.

Problem is I don’t know how much he can do by himself. The immediate thing to do would be nominate 4 justices to get it to 13 justices/13 circuit courts, which won’t go anywhere without 50 senate dems to seat them. But maybe the gesture alone might be enough?

 

He should at least be trying to combat the court with the other branches. Like proposing to increase the seats, calling on congress to hold hearings on the justices that have been involved in corruption scandals and the three that trump put on that lied in their hearings. He should be talking about the court in clear language: that they are going outside of their constitutional bounds and it’s the job of the other branches to rein them in. That would go a long way in convincing people that he is actually trying to get things done on climate, student loans, and abortion.

 

It would help the country which is why he won’t do it
