They’re just pushing the hell out of their comeback single I bet when they release more it won’t be promoted like this

I can't imagine an entire merch line with bundles and this amount of press for a 2nd single.

Hope they still do some 7 inch release if they continue doing singles in the future. But maybe a small EP would make more sense to elevate the next music release. Not like there's gonna be a bunch of "Thursday releases their 2nd song after 13 years" hype behind it.

At least it includes a copy of the magazine issue so it's more like $22 which is only $2 more than the 7 inch.

    value!

Maybe they’ll do what bayside did and release two EPs and then an album that’s basically the EPs with a few extra songs lol

FWIW that bayside album is legitimately awesome though so I can’t complain they reused so many good songs for it

I'm not really into how bayside handled that album since it makes it hard to process the album as a complete "work" but in the case of Thursday we were so starved for music I'd take it in any form they think up in any schedule they can figure out.

Splits with other bands/artists, 3 song EPs, one off singles. Anything!

Meh I’ve already listened to the whole album so much I forgot I knew half these songs beforehand.

I went really easy on the 2nd EP forward was it when clear this was gonna end up all put together so yeah I bet if I spent more time with it I would stop thinking where the songs originally came from.

Sounds damn good, as usual. Good to see them with full production. Feel like they have doing small shows for so long.

I was praying for it on the WATT date I had ugh

  15. As a Frenchie, hearing "this is out first show in France in 20 years" hurt lol. Hopefully I'll get the chance to see them because that set was incredible. Geoff's performance on This Song Brought To You by Falling Bomb gave me goosebumps and having proshoot footage of my favorite song ever (Running From The Rain) is unreal

  16. Live version of the new song sounded amazing

I had no idea matty Mullins was filling in for anberlin lol he was solid tho. there was an accident on 55 north that had me at a stand still for 45 minutes so I only saw about 5-6 songs of them

they sounded better than ever with a decently balanced setlist for the time they got (just under an hour). really took me back to seeing them in this same venue in 09 and 11

After a few days I’m still buzzing from that set. The last time I saw them was a War All the Time set in Philly around 2019, which was great! but I had started to grow frustrated that they kept touring the same albums and same set lists with nothing hinting at anything new. Obviously that recently changed but witnessing their live show, seeing the new song, celebrating old favorites with a few cuts I wasn’t expecting (I didn’t see a setlist before hand which I NEVER do) just lit a spark within me and I’m back to being completely obsessed with them. They’re one of fleetingly few bands I found when I was 14 and still love just as much today as I did growing up if not more so. It was surreal seeing them in the venue I saw them at for the first time in 2009 with the Dillinger escape plan, I was 17 and that was like my fifth concert ever. I lied to my parents about what venue it was at because they wouldn’t have ever let me go to East St. Louis when I was that age. Funny thing is Geoff dedicated cross out the eyes to anyone who was at that show. I remember seeing them in 2011 at that same venue to a shockingly small crowd playing the hell out of a batch of songs from No Dev that deserved so much more love than they got.

At the show the other night it was me, this girl to my left, this guy to my right, and this guy in front of me and we all went off to every single song they played it was great lol if you find any videos from someone standing back in the crowd you can definitely see me going wild lol. But anyway it obviously wasn’t just us people were into it but for those deep cuts and the new song it felt very communal for those of us who feel connected to this band on THAT level. the girl was like “holy shit I’m fan girling” when running from the rain started. Moments like that remind me how less alone I am, I’m shy and didn’t talk to anyone but just seeing other people feel their music the same way I do is just kind of enough you know.

    General show notes:

-somehow every time they play jet black new year it sound better than the last time I saw them play it

-the “at the bottom of everything” style monologue before they launched into “at this velocity” was bizarre and ridiculous lol like they all walked onto stage, Geoff comes up to silence and starts saying like “do I know you? You look familiar, oh yeah I saw you in my dream we were on a plane and blah blah” very weird very surreal and I had no idea what was going on until they started the song and I was like damn you mad bastard that’s ballsy

-cross out the eyes is the best song on full collapse I think? its certainly possible

-Steve’s backing vocals on Paris in flames were nuts, didn’t know that dude could sing

-why aren’t Tom and Tim touring, I haven’t paid much attention if anything was announced. Does Tim tour with LS dunes? Tucker obviously still plays so idk if that’s what it is

-Norm and Stu did fantastic and it didn’t feel like “oh well I’m seeing Thursday minus 2”

-A SPARK. A MOMENT. can’t believe how hard that song went off live and was surprised how many people were familiar with that moment at least

-I almost thought they were gonna close with counting, it was their big single in the MySpace era that the is for lovers tour mines from so I had my fingers crossed but for some reason I wasn’t expecting war all the time, which is also a good choice, definitely works as a set closer

I THINK this is the best show I’ve seen from them even if it isn’t the longest set I’ve seen them play. it was overall extremely tight, felt life affirming, somehow nostalgic and present at the same time, it’s hard to compare when it’s been so long since the first time I’ve seen them. If I’m counting right I believe this is my fifth time seeing them. Anyway I’m just beyond happy I was able to make it out to catch them and it has just invigorated me mentally which is how you know that was a set for the books. They are truly my favorite band of all time along with Jimmy Eat World. Just ridiculous bands that set the gold standard all other bands gotta live up to for me lol
