  1. Lots of names thrown around to replace Biden, but with today’s SCOTUS news I’m reminded that no one has put forth any real plan for how to deal with that mammoth corrupt body. I find all of that far more worrying than the debate performance of someone I have zero faith in and don’t want to vote for anyway.

im all for Biden being a one and done but he def did not run on or promise that afaik. A lot of people were wishcasting it but saying it out loud as a candidate would be seen as campaign suicide I think haha

Yes. If no one has a plan to combat this Court it really doesn’t matter who wins in large part. Think about the fact that the Supreme Court has done far more right wing huge national policy changes in the last 4 years than Trump did during his 4 years.

yeah, I am not saying that he promised that and then went back on it - I've always thought that this was the working idea of the rest of the Dem apparatus and that nobody thought he should or could or would run again but Biden's ego was like "nah, fuck that"

I remember when I was an avid listener of The Daily on the lead-up to the 2020 election, the NYT politics reporter said with confidence that Biden would be a one-termer and pass the baton on to someone else. I guess that was just speculation.

Every Supreme Court term we get huge national laws changed as if the evangelical republicans had a supermajority in congress. It’s fucking nuts

The 1/2 punch of the debate performance, highlighting how the dem elites have learned nothing from 2016; and then these supreme court rulings highlighting the real costs of 2016 truly is sickening

especially when the only plan dems seem to have to try and fight it is "wait for Thomas and Alito to die and replace them" which like... Trump wins they'll both retire and then have their 6-3 advantage for the next 30 years

Can’t wait to see child labor laws get thrown in the trash and seeing children work dangerous jobs so rich people can pocket an extra five bucks, you know that’s gonna be a reality in the red states.

I give us 10 years before 6 day work weeks are the expected norm for blue collar jobs

6? Oh that’s charitable, there isn’t gonna be days off when the rich needs more money.

For reason this made me think how hilarious it would be if the PRC had a state sponsored English language shitposting account that just made fun of American capitalists.

Now that I've seen The Sopranos, I'm realizing just how many references to that show have gone completely over my head over the years without even realizing it lol I swear I see a meme or reference to it at least once a week now in the most random places

I'm just happy the memes are still happening 17 years after the show ended
