Episode 1: I don't know if there is an Emmy for editing but this wins it. Oh my god. this is the most dreamlike episode I have ever seen

The only issue with dropping seasons all at once is having to leave a thread till I finish the season

    Bye everyone!

Just casually starting off the season with one of the best episodes of the series. This show is absurdly good.

First episode is easily the best they’ve ever done. God damn.

Casually sobbing at the beginning of episode 3. I had some doubts that they were going to be able to do anything close to last season, like surely the show would hit diminishing returns soon.

    I was a fool.

Can someone help me remember the whole timeline of things?

like I know you have these basic events

    - Carmy leaves home

    - Carmy works with the nice chef who actually encourages him / complements him on his drawings

    - Carmy works with the asshole chef

    - Carmy goes to Copenhagen

    - Carmy finds out about Mikey

but struggling to recall where those middle three fit into the timeline. Also didn't he run his own place where he got a bunch of awards before Mikey died or am I just remembering that wrong?

I think it goes 1) Carmy works for chef Terry. 2) Carmy goes to Copenhagen. 3) Carmy leaves home after the Christmas thing in season 2. 4) Carmy works for asshole chef while living with his cousin and John Mulaney. 5) Carmy finds out about Mikey

Watched through episode 4. Now I'm hitting the hay.

All I'll say is, man. The first two seasons are excellent, and now it's like the show itself knows how excellent it is. There's a confidence here that I've never seen in a show and it's completely earned.

I have a feeling i am going to be in the minority in that didn't work for me at all. Felt very hammed up, out of tone, and kind of inorganic to the show. The first time The Bear's use of guest stars felt a bit gimmicky to me. Took me out of that episode a little bit.

I loved Josh Hartnett in episode 4 though

I did stay up and binged all of this. Very good season of tv, had a few of the best individual episodes they've ever done (1, 6, and 8 were incredible), and the performances were of course great, but as an overall season this felt a little off. The pacing was a bit weird and stilted, and I felt like it didn't have the heavy narrative momentum the first 2 seasons had going for them. I right now would go 2 > 1 > 3 .

A kind of petty criticism: they focused way too much on the Fak brothers this season for comedy. I liked when we just got Neil in doses, but now that it's both brothers getting heavy time every episode, their shtick is starting to get pretty grating tbh

I could see this being the case, especially if you’re not into the Fak brothers comedy hour. But man I was too busy laughing my ass off to care.
