I haven’t done a discog run in long enough to really rank maybe I’ll do that soon. I do remember thinking down in the weeds was awesome but I also think people’s key has aged way better than I expected I did not like that album for a long time but these days I like to listen to it

Peoples Key is way underrated and I never really understood why, those songs are fantastic, maybe they're too rockin'

You’re probably right about that I think a largely rock album by bright eyes caught people off guard (I love it and always have except for like two songs). Firewall, shell games, jejune stars, triple spiral, ladder song, beginners mind…hell of an album

  12. People's Key is probably still the Bright Eyes album I come back to the most. Even if I like albums like Digital Ash more now.

PK opens awesome but I don’t think I like a single song from track 4 on

the man is the king of the non album tracks, if doing songs I could prob fill at least half my top 20 with stuff from the eps and singles and re-records.

    The sword and the faith.

Very happy there's more Bright Eyes to come but I haven't liked much of anything since Cassadaga. I think TPK and Weeds have maybe a couple songs a piece I like. Ranking would be something like

    Cassadaga
Digital Ash in a Digital Urn
Lifted or The Story Is in the Soil, Keep Your Ear to the Ground
    I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning
    Fevers and Mirrors
    ~
Down in the Weeds, Where the World Once Was
    The People's Key
    ~
    Letting Off the Happiness
A Collection of Songs Written and Recorded 1995–1997

But there's a huge delta both between Fevers and Weeds, and TPK and LOtH. I very much do not enjoy the last 2.

All things being what they are, if the new album at least hits Fever levels for me I will be very grateful.

I still listen to Down in the Weeds frequently. I love that album. Would be so pumped to have a new Bright Eyes album in the fall

I like Weeds, I do, but my only irk is how safe it is. So many recycled melodies, like how many times has he made Dance and Sing at this point? Pam and Broom, Comet song, others just are the same Conor melodies he keeps using. I like all the other albums because they bring something fresh and exciting along with them.

Again, I don't dislike Weeds, and it's great to get out after so long, but I do hope the next one gives me some WOW moments again
