A nice quiet week for me this time:

- The Dangerous Summer - Gravity (can't wait to listen to this one while going for a walk in the sun)
- Alcest - Les Chants de l'Aurore (a band that has mostly eluded me, but I loved seeing them support MONO a few years ago so this feels like a good opportunity to give them a proper go)
- Petey - The Closest Thing to Being Over is Going On (chill versions of USA songs = yes please)

Story So Far, TDS and Foreign Hands for me today pretty solid day!

 

The Story So Far! Been waiting for this album forever.

 

New Aquabats?!?! What?!?! How did I not know this! I’m bummed I missed out on the vinyl they had available. Gonna rock this all day!

 

Foreign Hands is the big release for me. Anyone a fan of the mid 2000's metalcore (i.e. Poison The Well) will feel right at home with this one.

 

• The Story So Far — overtook New Found Glory as my favorite pop-punk band with their classic record Proper Dose. I am REAL excited about this one
• Alcest — ethereal, atmospheric post-black metal. Soaring melodies. More cleans than screams
• Sumac — hypnotic, expanding, improvisational post-sludge. Brought to you by some of the brains behind Isis, Russian Circles, & Baptists
• Greenleaf — good, bouncy stoner metal
• Cavalera — re-recorded 2nd album of all-time thrash greats Sepultura. Sounds better AND keeps the energy of the original
• Kehlani — their bleak, laid-back pop is given a more energetic, happier facelift… dunno how I feel about this
• Seven Spires — ridiculous symphonic power metal. Dumb fun.
• The Dangerous Summer
• Kittie — the nu-metal ladies are back after 13 years

That Wage War album is VERY bad. Man, I used to like them. Give the recent release from The Measure a spin if you want some competent metalcore.

 

Dang. That Cawston reminds me of Eat Your Heart Out mixed with early-to-mid period Demi Lovato. This seems great!
