For what it's worth, they're just taking over abandoned anchor stores in existing malls. The mall in my hometown has had a shell of a Macy's sitting there for nearly a decade waiting for someone to do anything at all with it. I'd prefer the silly Netflix thing to an empty building.

 

I’d much rather see all this dead retail space be converted into housing for low income or homeless people than rebranded malls
