I wish I was more excited about Metroid but it just looks exactly like the other primes Idunno

 

Not really. 3 is the first chronologically and is also the point the series really blew up. It's like asking why Square remade Final Fantasy VII before IV or VI.

Didn't Wii have like over 400 virtual console titles? This is fucking embarrassing, Nintendo

 

To be fair, the Wii Virtual Console also had TurboGrafx-16, Neo Geo, Commodore 64, and arcade games.

The total of Nintendo and Sega games actually comes to 280.

The Switch Online service has a total of 282, buuuut that includes Game Boy and Game Boy Advance games, which the Virtual Console did not have.

 

3 was the first one to really become an expansive rpg 1 and 2 are pretty quaint games comparatively I think I beat 1 in like four hours a couple years ago on my phone plus yeah it’s a trilogy with 3 being the first chronologically but yeah I didn’t think they’d bother with 1 and 2 since they’re smaller games but I’m happy they are

 

I’ve never played a Metroid game but I gotta agree with what @mescalineeyes said in the other thread there’s a jarring lack of hit feedback that makes it look like the first prime game from the GameCube…not great

 

I kind of wonder if they're going to expand the first two games. Add more meat to them to make it worthwhile.

Oh well that feels like a given, and actually they've done that before when they ported the games to Super Famicom and Game Boy Color. But since they're doing this graphical overhaul, I wonder if they'll take the time to beef up the story.

 

I hope so! That gba port of final fantasy 1 does have an extra dungeon. 2 might as well idk

 

I didn't know they made up a story trilogy. If anything, that makes it more obvious that they would include those games as well. Also, HD-2D remakes aren't really a comparison to 3 massive games like the Final Fantasy VII remakes.

Isn't XI the breakout game, at least here in America? I often hear about VIII as well.

 

I've tried to play Metroid because my older brother was into it. The GameCube game didn't do much for me. I'll still probably end up trying this new one if the reviews are phenomenal.

I'm mostly excited for the Marvel v Capcom collection. Never in my wildest dreams did I think a) those games would be put in a collection b) that collection would be released on Switch

 

The stuff in here that is to my tastes that I will 100% play day 1 are the new 2D Zelda and the DK Country remaster.

Metroid Prime just doesn't do it for me like it does for another people.

Four Swords and Zero Mission are up on NSO. Still waiting for the update for N64 to be available.

 

The games are there. They are under the N64 18+ app.

I feel like they kind of have to do a remaster of Prime Hunters now too in addition to 2 and 3. Sylux who was shown in the trailer for Prime 4 as being the new main antagonist first shows up in Hunters.

 

Yeah it's a bit weird. I think I read somewhere that Japan had already introduced a similar app, maybe a 16+ one and so they decided to make a 17+ one for the US.
