I think that's why Taylor has fully embraced the eras thing. She's transitioned to legacy act so even if she hits her peak she will be fine. Tho I've heard people say at multiple points in her career it would be her peak and she just keeps outdoing herself. Even herself at a lower caliber will still be more than like any other artist. She's just masterful at marketing and understanding her public image. I'll be legit shocked if she ever truly flops because she's very tuned to the discourse about her.

However I do wish she'd branch out and do cool risks instead of focusing on building her legacy and breaking all the records. That's fine too but like, she could forge a path being an independent artist. She could start her own label and support other artists. She could collaborate with just about anyone in the world. She could write a disco metal polka album and it would still probably chart.

She could write songs with people other than Jack Antonoff and Aaron Dessner…

If she wants to tank her career while outdoing herself for one fan, she should swap out Dessner for Matthew Caws of Nada Surf or Scott McMicken of Dr. Dog.

My best guess is the remainder of the year has Eras tour ending, a second and maybe third music video from Tortured Poets, some more remixes and dumb sales tactics, then quiet over the holidays.

2025: Q2 release of rep (TV), Q4 release of Debut (TV)
2026: brand new album and a new tour concept or maybe finally doing a festival

She’s directing her movie at some point too

Love her music, but I have zero faith she can translate her skills into film. Acting-wise, she absolutely can not

  7. I'm assuming she wouldn't be acting in it, just writing/directing. Kinda like the "All Too Well 10 Min Version" video. She's directed her last few music videos.

    Things have changed.

Would love to hear her write a super sarcastic, biting, fun record with Butch. But it'd probably get her accused of biting Olivia's thing.

have serious doubts her writing style would translate into a good screenplay with believable dialogue, a convincing story, and no Easter eggs/allusions to other work of hers. does she have an artistic eye and a vision of what she wants to exemplify in her visuals (i.e. music videos, tour visuals, album artwork)? sure. but i think it works better in shorter forms than something longer. ATW was beautifully shot and decently acted for what it was, but the minimal dialogue didn't feel as engaging as i think she hoped it would be. and if TTPD proved anything, overabundant lyricism can be irritating after a while. show, don't tell is the key, and as of recent, that hasn't been prevalent in her lyrics. i could be wrong, but i don't think this screenplay is gonna be that good.

I'm kinda hoping her next record is something wildly different sounding for her but still completely produced by Jack lol.

  11. That's more or less what the majority of us were asking for, and then we got 30+ songs that are mostly in the same wheelhouse as her last 5 albums haha...

If she does a whole album in the same realm as "So High School" I'd be happy. I'd also love for her to do a full country pop album again.

no, I understand, but what I am trying to get at is that I don't have faith that her talent will translate to writing and directing a movie

  13. Yeah, it's hard to know... Obviously, Swifties will blow it up to the moon and she'll become the most successful film director in history overnight, but yeah... I love most of her music, but I don't have any interest in seeing a movie just because she's tied to it.

She was able to improve her live performances like tenfold from where she used to be so if she puts that same effort into acting or directing she could work on her egot!

I’d settle for Olivia doing her next album with Butch. Really lean into those early Avril vibes. I think she needs to work with someone other than Nigro, and I think Butch would be a perfect collaborator.

There was (likely baseless) speculation post-Lover that she would pull an all-women production move and work with nothing but female producers and backing band. Obviously, wouldn’t want that just for the sake of it, but it would be cool to see what that would produce if she worked with Linda Perry or Catherine Marks.

I’ve argued this before and will surely argue it again,

but at this point a flawed debut film by Taylor Swift is way more appealing to me than another album. Especially after the “drinking from a firehose” experience of this most recent deluxe album, lol.

Hopefully she gets an experienced screenwriter to help her at the script stage (and also an editor she’s willing to trust). But regardless, even if she falls on her face, it’ll at least be interesting. And that’s very valuable for her to me.
