What accountability steps has Noah taken since the allegation came out and he made his initial response?

Also it feels weird to have this thread bumped after everything that happened and the previous pages of this thread. There are a ton of great albums from this year/recent years that could use attention/a bump over an album by someone accused of sexual misconduct, but alas...

I hope he ends up releasing that other album he made. Getting the Salt bsides was pretty sweet. Plus I thought there was hint at another Young In The City Ep or something.

Noticed new live songs were posted on YouTube and posted it in the existing music thread for that artist. Doesn't seem like an unreasonable or intentionally offensive thing to do. I can respect that some people have stopped listening to an artist or band. In reality though, this is still an active recording and touring artist, so even if you are done with them, maybe not everyone else is, even if they don't agree with or condone someone's past behaviour based on what they know.

That may not be the answer you like or want, but my posts were strictly related to music or projects. If you don't want to see any news or threads on an artist there may be a way to thread block or artist block though.

You do you I guess but your post sounds a lot like “separating the art from the artist” which, in addition to being gross, is impossible because the art is tied so closely to the artist. There’s a reason acts like All Time Low and Pinegrove are not discussed on here despite still being active.

Not to mention the way he has handled the situation (deleting comments, making only one statement that was more about himself, etc.) should give someone pause about publicly showing support for the artist.

Sigh, I don’t know why I’m even responding, it’s probably just going to fall on deaf ears.

if you have ever criticised .K. before or pushed back on anything they've said, it is falling on deaf ears because you're probably blocked. .k.'s version of chorus is a utopian paradise where nobody disagrees with them.

At least I’ll be in good company hahaha. Joking.

Seriously though….this thread is still open to post about in the music forum. Posted nothing regarding anything but music related post. Thread shouldn’t exist if you can’t post anything. Fact is there is new music. Didn’t seem to odd to note that.

Blocking people or threads is a choice and I do believe that option was put in place for a good reason.

People can have different opinions, but I do use the block feature when I feel the conversation with someone online is headed nowhere productive. Also people swearing at, writing abusive or attacking language or responding to conversations about important topics with gifs aren't people I really feel like investing my entertainment/leisure time in.

For the topic at hand, unfortunately, the number of artists that should be added to the list of unlistenable due to behaviour is too grand. Very sad. Yet Thriller will get a lot a of airplay now that we are in October and it's one of Michael Jackson's biggest hits. They just made a movie about Elvis Pressley that did well in theatres. And the list goes on and on. And this is just what we know. Your favourite artist right now may be accused of something 5 years from now. And for me, instead of trying to pretend these people don't exist, I am reminded every time when I hear one of these artists songs exactly what they did. It's my method for for remembering the bad things some of these people did instead of just making them disappear. That may not be a satisfactory answer to anyone, but I am just being honest.

I'll make sure not to post a link to any new music news I hear on this artist in this thread now based on the feedback. That I can do. So no deaf ears. Even if this doesn't entirely align with your views or approach to how you have handled the news of his wrongdoings.

Not that I want to particularly re-open this can of worms, but it is inevitable given that Noah just released a new single.

I tried looking up if anything more came of the accusations or if anyone else came forward about any troubling stories of Noah. I have noticed that Kelly Lynn Lunde has removed the Instagram post detailing her encounter with Noah. Noah has also nuked his Instagram account and started again from scratch for this new music rollout so the "apology" post is also gone (thankfully preserved in the Accountability thread: https://forum.chorus.fm/threads/accountability-in-music.33410/page-650#post-4759333).

Does anyone know if anything more happened here?

His new song is incredible. No surprise there.

there were other accusations out there, but may have mostly been as comments on the original post/apology or stories. one was from an acquaintance of mine.

  23. I stopped listening to Noah entirely after his shit-poor response to the rape allegation and seeing that he was deleting any and all reference to it on his Instagram posts. A few years later, I thought I'd miss my favorite album (Ledges) a lot more than I do.

Turns out, if you don't choose to separate the art from the artist, life is still okay!

I haven’t gone back to much of his stuff either, and I feel similarly. Thought the 10-year anniversary of Ledges, an album that meant an immense amount to me at an important time in my life, would stir up some kind of feeling. But I don’t really even miss that record. Honestly, the one I miss the most is Pillar of Salt, because that felt like such a comfort to me as a pandemic album. But whenever I have listened to his stuff, it’s just felt different to me. I guess I’m just not built for the separating the art from the artist thing.

The thing is, if he'd actually reckoned with the allegation in a good faith way, and been willing to have a conversation with the victim and with his fans about consent, I might have felt differently. But his entire approach seems like it's been "sweep this under the rug, never talk about it again," and I just don't know what to do with that.
