    Fight the long defeat.

Won't be out until at least October 18th I'm afraid (and if you're listening, lads, we expect you to stick to your word!).

This year is five years since Surviving, which bums me out. Really hope something new is on the way.

If the release cycle truly reset in 2020 like they've said, then it won't be until next year.

All the songs you mentioned are fantastic (I'd also add Feeling Lucky)...I think my issue with it is it's a little more uneven than most other jimmy albums. Idk I used to love the poppier songs on it when it came out but I was in high school and now I find them pretty grating, it's a lot of cutesy-squeaky jim vocals on those songs. But obviously they're so great that these are pretty minor qualms, I still love that album

I'll never forget the most anticipated albums in Alternative Press where Jim described Chase This Light as "hot tubbing music". Lol

    this is all there is

I know we got the Phoenix session live versions a few years back, but I'm quite surprised that JEW has never done a stripped-down or reimagining album with how varied their catalog is and how cool it would be to hear some classic deep cuts updated in the studio.

I’d still love to see the Damage Phoenix Sessions. I love the album but man those songs pop off live.

  10. I still want a Static Prevails Phoenix Session. I think people would really enjoy hearing those songs "modernized."

I agree with Zach on that topic. It’s 10 fans would love it, not so sure on everyone else haha

I would actually really love to hear the band do those songs now. Feel like it might make me appreciate them more. I feel the same about The Gaslight Anthem's Sink or Swim, an album where I really like the songs and do not like how they sound on record. Static Prevails sounds a lot better than Sink or Swim, but I still think I'd love a modern live take.

Not missing much. It’s not awful or anything. Just pales compared to everything that came after.

The thing is they had so much more of a budget to make Clarity (and all the later records) and you can totally hear it.

I don’t like static prevails all that much. It’s….. fine but the jump in quality from that to clarity and everything else is insane. Listen to integrity blues and static prevails back to back if you want a trip

Chase This Light actually may be second on my list of favorites behind Futures. One of the major dark horse underrated albums from the scene.

Also invented and integrity blues Phoenix sessions would’ve been so good. I saw them on the invented tour and would love to hear some of those deeper cuts live again

I avoided Static Prevails for basically my entire time being a fan of the band until I did a discog run in 2021 or so, and I gotta say I actually do feel like I was missing out a bit! I liked it way more than I expected and, even though they obviously improved in many regards on subsequent releases, I still appreciated it for being a what I believe to be a pretty good 90s emo record.

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

Anderson Mesa is canon Jimmy, one of the best songs they ever wrote

It’s 100000% worth listening to fuck I’d even say their debut is worth listening to just to hear where they started
