The OG Suspiria is better, but I think both are amazing. I kinda just treat them like different movies

 

yeah, they are very different movies

 

I just so happen to love one and think the other was a massive waste of time

 

Oh yeah I totally get it. The remake is also the first time I actually liked Dakota Johnson in a lead role so it has that going for it as well for me. Lol But I get why it doesn’t work for some people

 

The remake is more of a (imo) well-made psychological drama with some body horror and a supernatural twist, while the original is a straight-up supernatural giallo film.

 

I thought the remake was very good. I didn’t care for the war subplot, which felt a bit shoehorned in, but it was still a really solid movie and probably the best possible reimagining of Suspiria we ever could have gotten (even if that’s something none of us wanted in the first place).

 

I've been meaning to revisit, I just know it's a long one.

 

Just finished reading Firestarter so I'm watching the Drew Barrymore version. Holy shit, it's insane who they chose to play Rainbird, an already problematic character.

 

28 Days Later was really good tho, sad as hell

28 Weeks Later isnt near as good but has some gnarly ass kills. Still worth a watch if you havent seen it.

it was a pretty impossible task to make a sequel that was anywhere as good but they tried at least

The director of Smile is not who I would've immediately thought of to remake Possession. That movie did make $216m, so I'm not surprised studios are down for whatever he wants to make next. Curious how Smile 2 will do.

 

I have my doubts, but I’m just going to hope for the best and see what happens. At the very least, I hope it draws attention to the original
