I was not a fan of art style in the trailer shown today, but maybe could come around to it down the road. who knows.

 

Kinda based take here. What I like the most about Pillars though is that it's not trying to be quirky or funny. It plays its world pretty straight in regards to tone. It feels like every crpg from the past 10 years has this self aware quirkiness to it that has been quite off putting. I love the PoE games because they take the journey seriously.

 

I don’t think the art style of the trailer is indicative of the style or tone of actual gameplay but even if it is I think it was fine

 

Article on Double Exposure says it's unclear which Life is Strange ending will be treated as canon and whatever it ends up being might alienate some fans, but I think that's missing the point. There are multiple timelines. Somewhere out there the Max and Chloe from the comics got their happily ever after. A true fan would know that. Let the new game do whatever it wants.

 

Yeah, thats why I reserve the right to change my opinion. My issue is it doesn't feel great for DA, not that the art itself is just bad.

But I am fine with others enjoying it. Like I'm happy you're excited about it. Was just sharing a different low-key opinion is all. that said it doesn't look like fortnite.

 

I didn't think DA:I looked much like a DA game either tbh.

I also wasnt a fan of that game. I liked one of the DA games and haven't really gotten on board the others. I just feel for whatever reason the game isn't for me. just is what it is.

 

That’s ridiculous lol. Origins and 2 don’t look like dragon age games either then because they’re the most generic fantasy art styles ever. Almost nothing distinct going on with the art direction in either of those games. Inquisition is the first game in the series to establish a tone and style for the series. It’s THE dragon age game style wise

 

Im gonna keep saying how excited I am every day til release date so if you feel the need to tell me how excited you aren’t every time I hope you can keep up ;)

i dont plan to. i don't want to impact someone else's enjoyment of a game. i just wanted to express my initial thoughts given we got our first look and thats likely as far as i'll go.

I think I’ve played every class extensively in dragon age inquisition but my canon is always gonna be melee rogue

 

I’m just messing this thread is a safe haven compared to the toxic reactions on twitter and YouTube

fwiw, this is the inquisition trailer. I don’t think this captures the tone or feel of inquisition like…at all

I wasn't either. I really just like Origins, though DA2's story is let down by the lack of execution in every other part of the game. Though I do like how DA2's companions are a bunch of nutcases. lol

Inquisition's style certainly fits its tone. It's just that both its style and tone aren't really Dragon Age. You can prefer it that way of course but I'm not really talking about preference here. DA:I doesn't look like Dragon Age and that's just how it is. I'm glad you love the game though and I hope you have a great time with Veilguard. Hopefully it's not held back by the initial live service design of the game. I'm rooting for Bioware to make a comeback, even if their RPGs aren't really my cup of tea anymore.
