I finally watched that first episode of Who Killed WCW?

Again it is a story most longtime wrestling fans have heard a million times, but I do like with this one they got Brad Siegel and some other former Turner execs as talking heads, we have never really heard the network perspective on this before. Also the production on this is super clean .

Probably the biggest bullshit moment was when Bischoff basically blamed Sting's ""unenthusiastic about the opportunity" attitude leading up to the main event of Starrcade '97 as the reason he and Hogan decided to get rid of the clean finish last minute, which ended up fucking the entire match, and ruining the entire epic year long buildup to that match. Said it was Sting's own fault that Hogan doesn't work for me brother'ed him. "He went into that production meeting with the presumption that Hogan was going to pull the rug last minute, and in doing so he manifested just that" wtf?

 

Also listened to Meltzer's review of the doc. He says the narrative the doc goes with that "nobody in Turner wanted WCW besides Ted Turner himself" narrative is complete revisionist history. He said many Turner execs were WON subscribers lol. He said some higher ups wanted it gone sure, but to say Ted was the only exec there that liked WCW and wanted to keep afloat is bullshit.

Roddy has definitely overshot his ceiling imo and it's really cool. if they have Roddy officially break from Cole, i think Undisputed Kingdom would really work longterm as a goofy upper midcard deal that gets serious when the bell rings. give him the ROH title and let him do a few ppv main event bangers plz

Just got done with the Speedball episode of Talk is Jericho. Apparently he was signed with NXT when his ban was up, but they were going through those mass releases at the time and never fully signed him. Never knew that.
