Alright at this point in my chronological Star Wars watch I am halfway done with Rebels.

In my opinion the absolute best thing in Star Wars from both live action and animation from everything I have seen? That final arc of TCW with Ahsoka/Maul/Mandalore/Order 66, just absolutely incredible. I would even put that over anything in Andor.

I am forgiving of TPM, but it is a masterclass in corny dialogue

i've really enjoy reframing animation as a medium to tell stories to an extent that might be more difficult in live action. even if some projects are geared more towards a younger audience, you can still get great storytelling. while my exposure to the animated SW shows extends to the first season of TCW (i got sidetracked before starting S2 and need to pick it up again, but want to do so with my partner), i rewatched a good chunk of ATLA a couple years ago and forgot just how well it held up from both an animation and storytelling standpoint, the latter much more pertinent now that i'm older (conversely , the live action adaptations kinda look like shit). i'm sure it'll be the same for Star Wars.

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

I mean ATLA is just one of the greatest shows of all time in any medium. interesting that a dude named Dave Filoni directed a bunch of its first season too

Just finished Twilight Of The Apprentice season 2 Rebels finale. Ok this is an all-timer too.

Filoni's interpretation of Maul just might be the greatest Star Wars character ever. Just makes everything better anytime he shows up.

I think he just doesn't understand that the type of show he wants in live action would cost over a half billion dollars and probably be the single most expensive Star Wars project ever made.

The only way you can even logistically and financially do a show like that and do it justice in today's media environment is if it is animated.

I would like the seasons to have more than 8 episodes. I think Andor is the only one to so far and it helped the story not feel so rushed

It truly is amazing how Star Wars fans will complain about Star Wars more than anyone else. I think the Star Wars fandom has to be the most cry baby of them all.

Watched the first episode. Carrie-Anne Moss is such a believable Jedi. And I thought the show looks beautiful

Finished Thrawn. What a great book.

Not going to do Thrawn: Allegiance until I am done with season 3 of Rebels, since it takes place between seasons 3 and 4. In the meantime I am debating reading either Tarkin/A New Dawn (I bought a copy that is both books combined + some short stories), Cataclysm, or Dark Disciple.

I started Cataclysm. I like that this is basically Oppenheimer in space.

Dark Disciple and Catalyst are great! Definitely suggest Leia: Princess of Alderaan by Claudia Gray which is right around the same time period you’re in.
