Last year had 89 bands, so far 83 bands have been announced. 2022 had 99. I assume we are still getting a few more.

late night I would prefer Cook Out if the drive through line isnt so long but my hotel is a fridge and a block from Publix so I stock up
I have been just going to Hero donuts for breakfast since they are good and down the block

In all seriousness, though, I always just ate at my hotel for breakfast and then ate lunch/dinner at the fest. I definitely wouldn't mind getting a get together going for a chorus meet up at some point. I keep eyeing my hotel from the last three years hoping they drop their rate so I can change. I'd pay a little more for familiarity.

Al’s Deli and Grill is a pretty cool. But if you’ve never been to Waffle House after 1 am, that’s definitely could be the most interesting suggestion.

I actually just changed my hotel to La Quinta, because the hotel we had booked (tourway inn) had ok reviews back in November but the reviews lately have a lot to say about breakins and theft so I just canceled to be safe.

My friend and I have made it a tradition to go to Rock and Roll Sushi at some point during the weekend.

I would love to be the personal tour guide for all my chorus friends. I’ll get a list together.

If you’re a vinyl person, seasick records is a MUST. One of the best record stores I’ve ever been too

So I’m boring, mostly eat trash food and drink insane amounts of coffee, and don’t drink alcohol, so I know which breweries I hear are good, but don’t have much in the way of first hand experience. Anyway. This is top of my head stuff that’s close to downtown. Not all mom and pops, but the chains are worth it if you want to stick to downtown. Feel free to ask for anything specific if you’re staying in a different part of town, or something I could’ve potentially forgot.

If you have time and enjoy being outside, we punch above our weight when it comes to outdoor activities. Oak mountain state park, ruffner mountain, moss rock, Vulcan park, and some others I’m probably forgetting.

I think I’ve mentioned this before, but I recommend staying in one of our “over the mountain” suburbs. These are all just south of Birmingham. Homewood, vestavia, mountain brook, and Hoover are safe bets. Stay away from the north and west sides of Birmingham. East is okay, certain parts of Irondale and Leeds are fine, just check reviews. Trussville is good, but farther away and not much in the way of hotels. We have a road called 280 that runs north/south-ish (parallels hwy 31 and I-65 to a degree), and anything off that road is a good bet and is convenient for getting downtown.

    Coffee:
    June/last call bakery
Saturn - coffee in the morning/bar at night
    Frothy monkey
    Cala coffee

    Food:
Back forty - burger and pizza
Pizitz food hall - good if you have a big group and no one wants the same thing
    Al’s for late night
    Tortuga’s
    Pizza Grace
    Hero doughnuts
    Taco Morro loco

    Must visit stores:
    Seasick records

I LOVED Post Office Pies last year, and it's across the street from Saturn.

Yeah there’s an embarrassment of riches with pizza honestly. That and taco trucks are easy to find and it’s hard to find a bad one.

They fixed your brain when you were young.

Over the last 3 years I've ended up hitting Saturn, Back Forty, Pizitz, and Hero. I'll have to check out a few of these others this year!

That Counterparts pre show sold out within hours today. Best pre show they have done to date, although the Unearth/Shai Hulud/Evergreen Terrace one is up there

in hindsight, i feel like i just paid a bunch of money for that FSF show just to see Better Off and i’ll probably spend the rest of my time at the other show… oh well.

I actually prefer "Silence" but this is also a great album

i wish they would have just opted for a hits setlist this time so we could get bits and pieces of every era, but i am so excited to see this album live. seeing silence was so cool, and this will be such a similar feel for me.
