Cleveland has just run out of gas these last three games. Starting games behind becomes a difficult way to live. The starting pitching has felt really fragile for the Tribe most of the way. Their batters were abnormally quiet. The Cubs have made better team adjustments and began converting on opportunities. The tribe has continued to fall behind in counts, not convert, and leave ducks on the pond. I think Terry managed the hell out this team, but the Cubs have just made more plays on the back end of the series.

Truly hate Chapman and will be genuinely bummed if he seals the deal for the Cubs.

  20. I want the Cubs to win but if Chapman blew the series for Chicago i wouldn't be mad because he's a piece of shit

Idk, this Cubs team is really fucking good. They have a young core that is team controlled before they have to pay up. They will only get stronger with experience and a big free agent starter (or other piece if they want). They still have young talent in the farm to help or be traded for a big piece. This team is setup to be a factor for a long time.

Cleveland has upside via Brantley and their 2-3 starters, but was fortunate to have things go awry for Detroit and KC too. We don't have a team budget to go get a big piece, but have struck gold on a bunch of budget moves. We hit on so many that it's hard to envision that holds at the same level. Zimmer being a factor would go a long way with Brantley getting back to his game. That would deepen us in a good way. We have a strong front office, scouting, and manager so I think we have to trust it. I just don't think our path is as defined and that our core is as deep; therefore, it's hard to say we get back again with the MLB's parity of late.

I remember how badly I wished Leyland retired sooner when Francona was available. He would've helped that team tremendously

The team prioritized his baseball ability over his domestic abuse. The Cubs aren't unique in this regard, many teams would have made and have made similar decisions. But the Dodgers backed out of a trade for Chapman because of the domestic abuse, so it's not unheard of. The Cubs profited off his domestic abuse because he came at a discounted rate to the Yankees, which made the trade to Chicago possible. I don't want to rain on your parade, because again, the Cubs aren't the only team who would do something like this and I completely understand sports fandom and the maybe mixed feelings that come with rooting for your favorite team's success and when that clashes with personal morals. But it should not be overlooked.
