Supposed to be but mine is usually worthless.

  2. Also, most of the time, my Daylists are spot on and give me a lot of new stuff I've never heard of.

There’s been a noticeable quality change in the past week and it vaguely sounds like I’m getting fed some Spatial Audio mixes.

What does Apple Pay artists per stream? I know Spotify ranges between .0003 and .0005 cents per stream

Do or do not, there is no try.

It may be the same in the U.S but we got the same increase in the UK and they have been very quiet that you can actually have the current price just without audiobooks. For example my duo plan went up to £16.99 automatically but I could go into my account and change it to “basic duo” at £14.99. Which is grand by me, I don’t do audiobooks on Spotify.

As much as I like the lyrics interface and library management on AM, Spotify has me hooked with Connect, its new releases feed and I must be in the minority that likes it as a podcast player :crylaugh:

Yeah their app is pretty slick

They did not include that as part of the announcement here. It was known as an option when the UK prices went up.

Ah, my bad! I must have missed it!

  14. Any time I’ve checked on this, it hasn’t been much more. Maybe like one thousandth or one ten thousandth of a cent more.

I have a friend who only uses YouTube Music and I don’t really get why

  17. Streaming music as a business model is a screaming deal for listeners and an incredibly raw deal for artists. There's a reason we don't see a similarly all-encompassing movie and TV streamer, the economics are just not sustainable to try and have everything in one library. It's so, so cool that for $12 a month you can listen to the vast majority of recorded music in history but I think in a society that doesn't provide for artists in other ways, streaming as a whole is bad for the music industry because it is negligible income.

I wonder if there will come a time where streaming music becomes gated with different paid tiers to unlock certain bigger artists/label catalogs, or they just raise the prices significantly to like $20-30 a month, which seems more reasonable for what you are getting. But labels seem relatively complacent with the current state of things or at least think Spotify/AM have a chokehold on the industry.

I say this as an avid lover and user of Spotify, but it's just kind of insane how cheap it is and how they get away with paying artists so little.

Yeah streaming music is a steal; you’d think they would charge $20-30 a month instead

  19. Yeah its pretty nuts, especially when you consider the cost for one month of streaming was essentially the average cost for just one CD for a long time

And that I’d spend 50-100 bucks a month sometimes.

I’m very meticulous when I listen to music and follow a rotation every month. It irritates me that Spotify keeps messing with the recently played section of the main page. Sometimes it will be completely gone and now they changed it to “recents” and shortened the number of albums you’ve visited. Like idk why they’re obsessed with not keeping just that section consistent.

They have the other tab I can hit that shows my recently played but I don’t like the format and it shows every song like ones that come on after an album that Spotify’s algo chooses. Just more messy.

    Rant over but not happy

    Maybe so, maybe not.

The program and its interface just in a perpetual downward spiral of inconvenience.

I wish they would make actual useful changes. It would be cool if they saved your listening progress for albums and mixtapes so you could pick up where you left off later on.

  25. I'm putting all my hopes in a premium tier. I honestly think a Spotify subscription is way too low for what you get and devalues music consumption too much (it's a balance). I'd gladly pay more for better library and playlist management, hi-fi audio, and the ability to view artwork at full resolution.
