The First Omen was a lot funnier than I expected. Or I was laughing at parts that weren’t meant to be funny.

I'll write you into all of my songs Supporter

The First Omen rocked, there was such a clear and unique vision and a lot of the shots were way more well composed than I was expecting from this. Best shot in the movie for me was a Small moment, but in the courtyard for a split second there’s a shot where kids are eating at a table to the left and a girl is on the grass to the right, but elevated. Beautiful stuff

  3. I'm only half an hour in right now and I know there were comparisons to Immaculate but wow, it feels like I'm watching a second adaptation of the same source material lol

  4. Also RIP Scott, that's incredibly sad. He seemed like a really positive presence on film twitter.

  7. The First Omen is pretty good. Looks beautiful, lots of striking imagery. The first reveal felt too telegraphed to me, though, and everything after kinda just made me sigh. Far from bad, but I really loved how shameless and visceral Immaculate was as a B-movie. They're not far from each other in quality, and it seems silly to compare but also impossible not to. In that case, I do prefer Immaculate. But The First Omen was solid.

I've been thinking about this one shot constantly since I saw it that's just a cross section of two rooms, I think one had a dress hanging up on the wall or something? one of the most beautiful shots I've seen in ages

Surprised not a lot of people are mad about them retconning the "Damien's mother is a literal Jackal" thing for this premise. Must be a tell of how good it is.

  11. I was an even bigger fan of THAT shot of a beast's hand coming out of... somewhere

well I decided to watch Exorcist: Believer earlier today, partially because I hadn't slept in about 26 hours and still couldn't nod off and partially to see how bad it really was. folks: it's bad! don't watch unless you're treating it as a c-tier comedy because that's about the amount of respect that films affords the audience lmao

Can’t speak to the rest of the last category but I think that Sting and Night Swim are worthwhile

Watched Fear Street 1978 (Netflix) and enjoyed the hell out of it. Watched the 1st one, 1994, when it came out and I remember enjoying it, but that’s about it. This one had a better cast for sure. I’ll watch 1666 in a day or so and it looks like it carries over the cast from 1978 which is cool.

I also saw there a sequel to ‘The Babysitter’ I didn’t know about! First one was fun.

So I will definitely have to rewatch The First Omen because I was frankly way too high by the time we put it on. But I quite enjoyed it, I just had no idea wtf was going on half the time because I kept zoning out and missing shit. Lol

So don’t think I can compare it to Immaculate just yet. I’ll probably rewatch both, so I can see Immaculate without waiting 15 minutes for a projector to be fixed.

I made my friends watch The Guest because they kept saying they never saw it…well they saw it, but didn’t really remember much. Close enough. It was a tentatively good double feature

I thought the first omen was so great. What a treat. It should've been huge in theaters imo. Visuals were stunning and it was gnarlier than I expected

I just remembered this. My only complaint that wasn’t my own fault was that jarring cut to black lasted just a little too long imo. We thought something happened to the TV.

Please don’t judge me for looking into this. But I checked the time between wide release and digital release for the last 3 A24 movies. Important note: A24 used a Friday release for all 3, but Tuesday is usually a bigger digital release day.

    Problemista - 49 days
Love Lies Bleeding - 42 days
    Civil War - 42 days

So I Saw the TV Glow will probably hit digital no earlier than June 28th, which is yet another Friday.

I’m not going to make it to the theater to see it and I’m high and bored at 5am. I just want to see the damn movie, I’m not insane!

Maybe a dumb question, but do you get the same digital release date even if it comes to theaters after that? Or does it just not even come to theaters at that point?

Obviously there are various ways to get around that both legally and illegally anyway, but these companies love to push people towards pirating shit then cry about it. So I wouldn’t be shocked if they region locked it and made you wait longer.
