this has good atmosphere and production for sure but he still sounds tired on the mic to me. probably prefer it to his last three but would have it well below the stuff before

the album art combined with a song called Nothing Matters makes me think of Metallica instantly lol

 

Yeah the stretch of government cheese, childrens song, and shame on the devil is pretty dull

 

this hangs together better than Ramona Park but I will say I don't think a single song here grabbed me like When Sparks Fly did

 

I found my second listen to open this up more. At times it almost feels like a throwback to Summertime 06.

the keys at the end of Why Won’t the Sun Come Out remind me a lot of those in Daft Punk’s Within

 

these are all good songs! "shame on the devil" especially grew on me a lot in sequence

 

Whole record is great, so happy to have some new Vince songs for summer.

i didn't love the first season. felt like it never fully came together for me

 

Yeah it was just kinda alright. Each episode had its moments. The bank one was fun

 

Will def watch second season tho

 

I've finally gotten to spend some time with this and I think this is easily his best work since Big Fish Theory. His newer style that he started adopting after that album never hit me as hard as I wanted it to (I know that the s/t and Ramona Park are really good albums but I just never feel like listening to them over any of the older stuff for whatever reason), but something about this one hit all the right spots for me.

He's only getting better and better as a lyricist, his hooks have improved massively and the beats on this one are amazing. I know I'm not the first to say this but this whole album actually really reminds me of Mac Miller which is probably why it clicked so hard for me

He's just so good at this

I like Vince a lot but when I actually look at his catalog, S/T is really the only one I consider truly great.

 

I think I ranked his albums in the last thread but I'd go (including mixtapes and EPs because his EPs are basically the same length as his albums lol)

When I look at his catalogue, I'm reminded of how fucking consistently great he is. I really need to start including him on my list when I talk about my favorite rappers, I never think to for some reason

 

Vince has several great albums. That take is wild.

 

I can’t believe fm is so low on these lists

 

I didn't like it when it released and never feel like returning to it
