Album is still getting lots of plays for me; loving Philosopher King atm and it will be the next one I learn on guitar. So heavy, but the little dueling guitars part in the middle (where Tilian's all like "wont say that ur betteeeerrrr") is so good, and such a refreshing break at that moment in the song.

 

I've revisited Inspire, Deception, Man of the Year, PZJ, Frozen One, and Betrayed the most.

 

Goddamn Tilian, going for the jugular. haha

 

Doesn't seem like the best way to start this Euro tour.

That's really weird. I mean from what I gather JC is a real pos, but since they're all goin on tour right now that's kinda awkward.

 

Yeah, you'd think they'd at least try and get along whilst they still have to see eachother every day (or at least pretend that they don't dislike each other).

 

I talked to one of the DGD members at Chain Fest and they were pretty openly dreading having to be with Jonny for the whole European tour... it seems he's in a pretty bad place right now and the other guys want as little to do with it as possible. Also if you listened to Tilian and Jon on Lead Singer Syndrome, Tilian made it pretty clear he doesn't always get along with Jonny and that they have no interest in doing further "reunion" shows once the 10-year thing is done.

 

Tilian's comments in the podcast and on Twitter didn't strike me as anything personal towards Jonny, it just sounds like he and probably the rest of the band are fed up with the kind of stress that comes with being around someone who's addicted. I could be wrong obviously but either way, yeah, not a great way to start a tour.

 

I know Jonny sucks and everything, but those tweets are really disgusting imo.

 

I don't think the tweets are disgusting and they take promo photos together/say good things about each other regularly. I think if it were serious Jonny would be quick to respond. Sure, DGD don't shy away from the truth anymore since it's all anyone ever asks them about, but I don't think there's bad blood

 

Just not really cool to joke around about addiction, and especially overdosing/death pertaining it, in my book.

 

I thought they did songs and stuff together recently so he's probably joking in a way where he knows he won't take offense

those read really mean hearted though

 

Idk like their relationship with Jonny is their own personal business and I'm not really speaking on that, it's just that there are very likely people who are struggling/have struggled with addiction that will read those tweets and who knows how they might react to it. It comes across as grossly insensitive to me to make those kinds of jokes.

 

everything is gross and offensive to somebody. If that's the case, 75% of DGD's lyrics should offend you.

 

I'm not trying to tell anyone how to feel, merely expressing my own feelings regarding the matter at hand and I don't see why that's some kind of an issue. I also haven't really listened to this band in 3 or 4 years probably, so yeah I've grown significantly as a person in that time frame and maybe some things I took lightly back then I'd see differently now. Again, that's personal to me and don't see why that deserves mocking or why it warrants disrespect.

That was basically what I was getting at. I don't think they have personal animosity towards him, but he's obviously not an easy person to be around.

 

I get where you're coming from. Addiction is probably not the best subject to joke about in that way, and I agree that the tweets come across kind of cold-hearted.

 

I wish Kurt could have gotten a third album with the band. I like DBMII (hell, I'm in the minority that likes it more than DBM), but if I could trade DBMII for a third Kurt record I'd do it without hesitation.

Unpopular opinion but Turn Off The Lights pt 2 is the single most underrated DGD song of all time...of all time.

 

TOTLpt2 is sick, so much fun to (try and) play on guitar for sure. The part at 3.25 with those chords ringing out is so fucking good, such a DBM throwback sound!

 

I'm personally glad we got ALLB instead

Also glad we have ALLB. Happiness and the S/T are so good I don't know if we needed another Kurt album. Though I'll also always wonder.
