when I worked at a pizza/sub place for like 9-10 years eventually you get so so so sick of the food. And have to do crazy shit. I used to toss a few grilled pineapples on my chicken parm sub.

Can’t remember the name of the form but you can look up the salaries of directors or whatever at that level at non-profits

the one I worked at paid adults with intellectual disabilities minimum wage, I made $13/hour, and our director made like, $110k a year

It’s such a hard sector of business. Let’s say you run a people-focused nonprofit (that works with children or people with disabilities or something). Something that requires a bunch of staff to do the work. You have a total revenue budget from contracts and grants of like $800,000 to pay 25 staff salaries/wages, benefits, rent, program supplies, food, etc. Let’s say after supplies and stuff, you have $650,000 left to pay your 25 staff. That’s $26,000 a person if you pay everyone the same full time salary. Which isn’t a living wage. But you need those people to do the work. So you end up having to rely on cheaper, part time labor to make up for it. Because a person running a 25 person company won’t (and shouldn’t) do it for less than $75,000/year. That’s still not much of a salary, tbh. You can’t just raise your prices. The money is coming from the government and foundations. They’ll just send it somewhere else if you can’t make it work.
