Per Claire's ( a professional pastry chef and pastry recipe developer ) assessment of the Zebra Cake "the glaze is really waxy and it is teeth tinglingly sugary. The cake tastes like nothing just sugar and it dissolves too fast, there is no chew at all. The creme is also too sweet and has a fake vanilla flavor. For the chocolate stripe the cocoa flavor is too subtle, it also just tastes like sugar. It looks cute, and likes how compact the cake is with no air holes. Understands the appeal of the hard then soft texture of it, but flavor wise never wants to eat it again"
