no I get the cheap tough "stew meat" and marinate it for like 24 hours

lime juice helps tenderize the meat man

Haha I just use ground turkey, but would be cool to experiment with some things. I'd like to make some shredded chicken in the crockpot or something

I like slow cooking a pork butt, shredding it, then broiling it with the leftover liquid. time consuming though

I don’t like cooking fresh chicken at all lol. I usually buy either a boneless ribeye or a skirt steak, some pork chops or a pork tenderloin, and some ground beef or ground Turkey for my meats every week. I have frozen chicken (strips and regular breast) to use for salads and sandwiches. And if they’ve got the rotisserie chickens out I’ll snag one because they’re huge and slathered in so much preservatives it doesn’t go bad quickly lol.

I honestly hate cooking meat in general because I'm a germaphobe and am so paranoid about contaminating something and getting food poisoning. Poultry especially freaks me out. But I love meat sooo just gotta put up with it!

Steak is so quick and easy and delicious so it’s my favorite but yeah it’s pricey I go for the small cuts and only one since I live alone. Here’s my steak meal from last week (boneless ribeye if I remember correctly) with a peppercorn ranch salad kit and some sweet peppers, mushrooms, and onions I roasted in the air fryer. nothing crazy but was super super delicious

Use a digital thermometer and you'll need to worry again.

I got one a month ago and it's such a game changer having an instant read. I had a manual thermometer that took like a full minute for the needle to stop slowly increasing

I use it all the time grilling or smoking. They can be pricey but well worth it.

Do you mean one that stays in the meat the whole time it cooks? Or just a quick instant read you do at the end? I have the latter and it was like $15 :-)

Got my dad the one that stays in it and has a phone app. I think it was close to a hundred bucks

Ooo I love the idea of having an app. It's wild to me that you can stick something with a battery into a hot oven and it doesn't just explode haha

How did you cook the steak out of curiosity? Or was that air fryer too?

I have an instant read one for grilling and then one for smoking meat(it stays in the whole time)

Stove top with butter and minced garlic just a few minute sear on each side I like my steaks rare but I went a little over and this one and it was closer to medium but still good

  20. Made this carbonara last weekend. Mushrooms and parsley were not in the recipe so idk if it’s sacrilege to include them, but I threw them in because I like them ha. I also used bacon instead of pancetta or guanciale.

Cooking meat is maybe my favorite thing to cook in general. I also used to be super strict about cooking to the exact right temp when grilling or pan frying but I've gotten to the point where I just eyeball it and go by a set time in my head based on the temp im at. Cooking thinner and smaller pieces always makes things easier too. On top of marinating, I tenderize chicken breasts or full steaks with a hammer every time to even out the thickness and that always helps.

Got a few lbs of teriyaki steak tips marinating all day today that I'm gonna grill over charcoal later for dinner/meal prep
