  1. Actually really enjoyed episode five. Looking forward to the last three

  2. Yeah, I think it did a fairly good job of connecting the various subplot threads from the previous eps.

Would I be fine downloading The Witcher III: Wild Hunt to play without knowing the the first two games? The show has highly peaked my interest in playing. I think I’m gonna regardless but wonder if a recap video would help going into it.

  5. Yeah I got like 1/3 into the first one, got fed up with the combat, and skipped straight to Wild Hunt no problem haha

I've played III about 3-4 times now and I've never touched the first two. They'll make some references you'll probably be scratching your head over, but the game does a good job of focusing on this story. There's also a little dialouge sequence where it goes over some "decisions" Geralt would have made in first two to catch you up.

    Excellent and appreciated.

  8. Had some trouble following some of the plot and various motivations in this, but I'll chalk that up to my bad memory of what happened last season. Looking forward to the back half.

i absolutely could not follow the first episode, middle few were fine, and it took me until halfway through the second lap of the mid-season finale to figure out what they were doing.

  10. The structure of the ball episode is so dumb. I hate watching the same thing like three times just getting a bit more each time.

    Seasons been fine overall though.

  11. Last three episodes were good. I just don't know if I want to watch this going further with discount Hemsworth instead of Cavill.

Yeah it's a pretty disappointing recast no doubt. But I'm sticking around for the universe...and the best villain from the books hasn't been introduced yet.

  13. I didn't realize this was back. s03e06 was good but had a little too much going on, I'm surprised they stuffed all of that into less than fifty minutes. s03e07 was mostly just Ciri, and Freya fucking killed it, further cementing that I'll want to continue watching this even after Geralt is recast. One more to go before it's bye-bye Henry.

Just to reiterate how I feel about this whole situation, I haven't read the books, I've only completed the third game, but I think it's unfortunate that they're recasting a lead that has so much passion for the source material. And at the same time, while I don't think this is always the best written show, I've grown to absolutely adore Freya and Anya in these roles.

I don't know if I would describe the show as "simplified". I have a hard time keeping track of all the character and place names. I don't think they do a good job of explaining the world building aspects

    Maybe so, maybe not.

Three episodes into season three and even after watching a few recaps to get adjusted it is really frustrating how confused I still am, ha.

  17. Ya I was lost on a lot of things this season lol. So many names, factions, and side switching. Still found it entertaining and I like the way they film the action scenes, but idk if I'll tune into next season unless reviews are really strong.

it took me way too long to figure out Thanedd & Aretuza are the same place.

I mean. I wish Cavill had stayed on; but I'm a fan of the universe first (books, games etc). If the show had just cast Liam from the get go I wouldn't have batted an eye, I'll probably just be a little sour on it by comparison.

I’m more concerned with the reasons Henry left. He said the writers don’t respect the source material. So why should I continue to respect the show

That's fair, and it will turn me off pretty quickly if that's the case. There are some characters I'm really looking forward to meeting and I hope they don't fuck it up.
