Buddy Neilsen of Senses Fail and Chris Conley of Saves The Day had the following to share about the upcoming tour:

"I am so honored to be able to go on tour to celebrate a release from 20 years ago. If you had told me all that time again that we'd still be able to make music and tour this far into our career, I would be blown away. To have the privilege to tour with one of our main influences in Saves The Day as they celebrate one of my favorite records of all time is absolutely a blessing. I cannot wait to get out on the road." — Buddy Neilsen of Senses Fail

"Together we plan on bringing the spirit of New Jersey to life on stage in a city near you. Let’s all sing along to our favorite songs like we did way back in the day!" — Chris Conley of Saves The Day

And fuck 80% of the musicians you listen to who have undoubtedly done some fucked up shit in their life. And fuck a real good guy like Buddy for bringing them on tour. And fuck the tens of thousands of people who pay for a ticket to these shows.

Yep. We've all done fucked up shit, and may even argue musicians do even more (the lifestyle may not allow for mental health to be top notch). There is so much more that we don't know about our favorite musicians.

yeah, but when you have confirmation you can boycott them. It’s hard to hold those accountable who have yet to be exposed for their behaviors.

Right. Before I cast judgment on people, I look at the opinions of people who know them. Buddy and the rest of SF are clearly vouching for Chris and Saves The Day. His bandmates are still in the band. The dude fucked up, went completely off the rails, owned up to it, and apologized. We're all human. We make mistakes.

All Time Low was accused. They staunchly denied the allegations from the start, and the "victims" recanted stories/admitted to making them up/backed down completely. I'm glad they avoided being cancelled.
This "confirmation" is a lot less than the confirmation of people who have truly done heinous things. Chris basically obsessed over/stalked someone and took it too far. He didn't rape anyone. Didn't sexually assault anyone. And he owned up to it, apologized, and sought help. It's also, as far as I know, a one-time incident, right? There aren't a litany of people saying Chris has done this, are there? This isn't Jesse Lacey 2.0.

I'm not saying what he did was right. I'm saying that people can learn from their mistakes, and we don't have to cancel everyone for fucking up. I'd be scared how many friends I would lose if I were cancelled every time I made a mistake.

That's a sick poster! I feel like I've seen TBC every time I've seen them though, just not in the right order. Not a draw to the level In Reverie was

I'm glad to hear that Chris took accountability for his behavior and put in work to be better. I didn't know that, so thank you for sharing. It's important to call out problematic behavior and to hold people accountable, but it's also important to believe that people can change and grow.

With the ATL situation, I have a harder time agreeing with you. The victims recanted their stories after the the band threatened legal action. They have millions of dollars to throw at a legal battle, where the individual victims probably do not have the financial backing to go up against the band. Unfortunately, it's easier for me to believe that the victims were scared into silence rather than actually making up their stories.

Eh, I feel like SF has ruined some classic album artwork and posters with the skeleton mascot. It's literally been on everything since that album dropped. It was cool for that album but feels cheesy for me at this point.

As far as the tour, my daughter is due like a month before so there's no way ill be going to this. Hoping to get something for the Fire, PTTFYH, or a new album soon though

Person 1: Hey people should be able to make decisions about who they want to see live! Don't be a part of the hive mind!
Person 2: I personally don't want to go to this show because this person did garbage things.
Person 1: But but but what about all the other artists who have done things ever and also their families and friends and anyone who has ever watched them, and why are you trying to ruin my experience and cancel the artist I want to see?!?!?!

The solution is to not bring up "fuck Chris" and to just read this thread and move on. If the thread consisted of only "omg yes I can't wait", those that still support STD can discuss their excitement. But every single time a band with some history comes up, someone has to comment negatively about the artist first, instead of just reading it and moving on, thus creating the discussion playing out exactly like you said above, with certain people defending a band and others saying fuck the band.

Are people only allowed to have positive opinions? Why should people not be allowed to express their own desire to not support a tour, especially if it can enlighten someone else who might not know why someone wouldn't want to support it? (Many people aren't perpetually online and might not know and learn about something they don't want to support as a result!) All you're telling me is that people who want to go are extremely insecure about their desire to do so, and they should 1. examine why that is and 2. get over themselves and not get up in arms that other people don't share the same desire

I'd just like to add that Person 2 is definitely judging Person 1 and anyone else who would be excited to see the band by commenting that. Don't get me wrong, I completely agree, but let's be real, ha.

Fair commentary here. Just feel like unfortunately it inevitably turns into judging/talking shit amongst those involved.

Eh maybe, I wouldn't support Saves The Day (but also never got into them) but I get that people like the music and are gonna go and I have artists in my own life I listen to who other people might not want to support so I personally try not to judge. But yeah it's certainly possible person 2 is judging person 1

For what it's worth I definitely don't care for people going into specific artist threads to attack people directly for who they want to listen to either. I get where those people are coming from in their heart but it's all messy and I don't feel like it results in meaningful change

  22. hey just checking this thread again, genuinely not judging anyone who decides to go this tour, and I appreciate the perspective that Chris has taken accountability and (hopefully) worked on his issues. literally just saw the announcement and fired off with my initial reaction, there's no deeper meaning. I will say though that it's very silly and short-sighted to imply we shouldn't hold people accountable when we know they've done something because "80% of musicians have probably also done bad things." like, maybe, maybe not, but... so?

I can't wait until 5 years from now, Brand New releases something new or plays a show. Ensue insane comment thread debates. Like this 10x.
