I think we might all be too caught up in assuming they have to “tease” the lineup release. Just because they’ve always done it doesn’t necessarily mean they always will. Plenty of fests just say “here it is”.

 

Or that. Haha. They’ve done it that way a few times now. Been a couple years but that was always fun.

 

FWIW, that NOFX announcement is coming at 2pm EST.

 

That doesn’t feel like a Riot Fest announcement time so I’m going to assume it isn’t about Riot Fest and be pleasantly surprised if I’m wrong.

 

2pm est is 1pm cst, so it makes sense to me.

 

Then that's likely not a Riot Fest announcement.

If it was a RF announcement, it would also be teased by them.

 

Again if riot fest is anything, it’s inconsistent. There’s nothing stopping them from just dropping the lineup out of nowhere.

 

True. I could totally see them say something this morning like: “we are tired of you nagging us. Come back at 1 for the lineup.”

I thought about it this morning and they don't really get any benefit from announcing this week. The holiday effectively extends into this week now so may make sense to wait for next week.

 

People are willing to spend more on a holiday because the mindset of major companies (ie airlines/hotels) offering discounts.. and people on the fence about going to Riot can make a decision before Memorial Day if it's released this week

 

The dates have been announced for some time. If people want to go, they're going. And there are plenty of other weekends that sales happen for airlines/hotels.

I highly doubt it's going to be this week.

 

Lots of people are waiting for the lineup.. none of my friends that have come with me in the past care all that much about Slayer

The next holiday is July 4.. and that is borderline late to start booking.

 

Pavement will be active in September

 

Fathers day sales. And sales don't really matter when it comes to airlines. Once the lineup is announced, some people will buy and the pricing will shoot up.

I had this same thought, and it certainly wouldn't be the first time RF waited until after Memorial Day to make the announcement. Still hoping for this week, but I won't be surprised if it's next week.

this tour could easily start at riotfest and be part of the NOFX-n-friends. but id also be fine with them sitting this year out, let us miss you a bit

 

Also could see Kurt Vile playing. He has a show in Evanston but that is at a small venue and the show sold out right away. It has been 10 years since he last played.

 

Father's Day isn't a government holiday - maybe Home Depot will have a sale, but Memorial Day/July 4/Labor Days are when you get your biggest sales the rest of the summer

 

Dropkick basically play Riot Fest every 3 years or so. I think they may be in especially without a Chicago date.. Pennywise played last year

 

Government holidays mean nothing for marketing, though.
