Release My Mind, My Garden Grows

Love that the industry switched to using saniderm. Such a game changer, takes most of the guess work out of the healing process and I feel like all my pieces I've used them with come out great.

My process is usually saniderm patch for the recommended time, then Aquaphor for a few days to a week, then some non-scented Lubriderm. I use Palmer's like once a week on all my fully healed stuff.

For me, i cant do it. When it fills up with plasma and shit, it just looks gross to where i couldnt stand it and had to take it off. I wash my tattoos and use ointment for a few days, then switch to lotion. I havent had an issue yet. My general dvice to anyone is to do what works. Ive had several artists tell me different things and ive just politely accepted the advice but done whats always worked vs change each time i get new advice. Obviously first timers, listen to your artist but trust your gut and check online if you think they gave you bad tips.

Care-wise I shower the about twelve hours afterward, cleaning it with scentless antibacterial soap. Clean it that way every day. Then Aquaphor for the first 2-3 days followed by regular lotion till it stops peeling.

Here's the color of my most recent one. My artist finally gave me the "secret" booking link so I can skip the vetting process. I'm already going back in two weeks for another one :-|

artist said to just use unscented lotion after washing it daily until it heals. I took the wrap off and all the gunk is gone and the tat looks great. I'm stoked

no working out for 2 days and no swimming for 2 weeks now :)

Actually just went back for round 2 last week after I got my elbow done. Now I'm truly finished with my right arm. He touched up all my old tattoos and did some filler work around everything that was missing.

Not gonna lie, that shit sucked more than I thought it would, spots all up and down my arm. I'm still a little flakey haha.

  8. I had gastric sleeve surgery in January and I’m down 92 pounds since December. Amazing news for my health and happiness. Disastrous news for my tattoos above my elbow. I’m currently on a hiatus from getting anything above the elbow especially on my biceps or upper arms. I may have to get plastic surgery to tighten skin some time next year and I don’t want to lose anything if that happens.

Emailed my guy about getting a knee tattoo. Nervous for this one! We were just talking about healing methods. Saniderm work well on the knee?

I want my right knee done but know it’s gonna hurt like hell so I keep putting it off.

What are you thinking of getting? I'm thinking an tradional-ish flower.

Ya'll are brave. Knees are a no go for me as I HATE my knees even being touched, and kneecaps are just weird / gross feeling. I can't imagine getting tattooed there. They make for a good classical / traditional designs but nah, too much anxiety around that area. But the examples above ^ are dope.

I’ll definitely get above my kneecaps done at some point, probably bottom half of knee above kneecap. Definitely wouldn’t do kneecap for me, there’s a lot of spots i’m no go on.

My right leg has one above and one below so it bothers me my knee isn’t done.

The contrast between brand new ink and 15 year old tattoos is pretty jarring. It's also a good illustration of the change in my disposable income over the past decade lol. The difference between a $100/hr walk in that didn't change much from my sketches and a $200+/hr custom piece from a thoughtful artist.

Anyone with a full on elbow ditch, was it that bad? I have something in mind, and thats the perfect spot for it but im worried about pain and the healing. Ive done bicep, outter arm, back of arm near elbow, various leg spots and my thigh, and they have all been okay. Obviously not pleasent, but nothing i couldnt handle or would describe as 10/10 pain. Ive always heard elbow ditch is ROUGH so any first hand accounts? It'll be line work in a radius around the ditch, with some shading in the ditch itself, all black and white. Gonna guess a 2 hour tattoo based on the design and my guys speed previously.

I have one that goes up into my elbow ditch just a little bit and I remember that being not fun.

  22. The ditch hurt but thinking back, there’s so many other places that hurt more, to be honest. It’s not as bad as I think most people think.
