Such a big summer ahead with the amount of contracts running up.

UFA: Guentzel, Teravainen, Martinook, Noesen, Skjei, Pesce, Chatfield, TDA

RFA: Jarvis, Necas, Drury

Forward group could clearly use a shake up with the center depth drastically needing a rework, defense next year might be ugly with Burns in his last year and Nikishin not coming over until summer 25. In net Andersen has one more year so I imagine we transition Kochetkov as our starter moving forward.

 

My ideal offseason would be to lock up Jarvis and Necas to long term deals. Try and re-sign Teravainen and Pesce to team friendly deals. Keep Martinook and Chatfield if not too pricy. As much as I would like Guentzel, I don’t want him at the expense of not being able to then afford Jarvis or Necas.

Wonder if any team would be willing to take Burns contract. Will be interesting with the goalie situation too. Assume sticking with Kochetkov/Andersen tandem, but wonder if they could explore trading Andersen. Kochetkov should be the starter and Andersen could probably have a starting role on another team.

Maybe rod is the issue. Ask any goalie and they tell you how great low quality shots is for them. Basically the canes warm these elite goalies and then get goalied. Despite going out and getting an "elite finisher" in guentzel, the system didn't change enough to matter.
