Also looking up more 20th franchise stuff it seems like Disney has given the entire Predator franchise to Dan Trachtenberg which is fantastic. Not only has he got Prey 2 coming, he's also doing another Predator film called Badlands.

gonna just anonymously send the books to Jesse Plemons and Cillian Murphy and tell Tom Rothman it's time for Round 2.

I’ve been watching these all day on FX and I cried like a baby at the end of War. Every time, man.

Happy to say I loved this. Probably not quite as much as Rise but I thought there were a lot of fantastic sequences and it does a great job setting up a new storyline.

  12. Haven't watched this yet (or seen the movie), but I really like this channel for music production nerd stuff so this is probably a cool interview.

I forgot about these cool little teases in Rise to set up the thing we all know they'll eventually do by the end of this iteration of the franchise.

Felt like the first movie of the last trilogy. Pretty good but could potentially set up some bangers. Either way love these crazy apes.

The more I think about this movie, the more I think it's perfectly awesome and justified in this universe. I did love it, and it really does stand on its own while tying in. This interview confirmed all of this for me, and made me love it even more. Wes is just a cool, down-to-earth dude.

i thought some parts worked but it was overly long and worse than the prior three. overall pretty meh, middle of the road.

Saw it last night and while everything looked beautiful throughout I thought it took too long to get to Proximus/the kingdom so by the time they're in there things felt rushed. So pacing issues and not really much character development outside of Noa. I'll still watch these movies as long as they keep making them.

This was pretty good. A little long. Wish we got Mae seeming like she wasn’t smart a little more, it was so obvious haha.

Had the dumbest grin when she screamed NOOOa

I loved the first act so much. The world building, tone, and character relationships just instantly sucked me in. The scenes with Raka were a bit of an exposition dump, but he was such a fun character (and the visuals were so well done) I wasn't too bothered. I agree that it was a little over long; they really could have cut all of William H. Macy's stuff and it would have worked. I do like how they're setting up the next films; I'm excited for the next one.

The one thing that completely took me out of it was the comical amount of seawater rushing into the bunker. Not just filling it up, but somehow also raining down on top of them as they were climbing. It's ultimately a nitpick over blockbuster movie logic but it was so distracting.

Not as good as the prior three, but the ending left me hopeful for some interesting dynamics in the sequels to come. Will Mae and Noa be able to act as a bridge of camaraderie between the species? Or will their skepticism about each other spark yet another war? Tune in next time to find out.

They should have cut a good amount of the middle because it starts to really drag up until Primordial Caesar is introduced. And just about every William H Macy scene is him saying the same thing he said in the scene before.

Thought it was interesting that the remaining bunkered humans are still at risk of the ape-ification virus (or at least think they are) and so Mae is left completely isolated away from her own allies/shelter
