Did it premiere at Cannes this week (doubtful), get purchased by Amazon and already have an existing trailer? That's one scenario I could see where it makes sense

 

looks like it's not playing at Cannes. been linked to Amazon since 2022. no clue why they're starting promotion now.

looks like Amazon has a string of announcements today, so that's why they revealed it. case in point, they just announced Phoebe Waller-Bridge is doing a Tomb Raider series.

 

I wish Phoebe was doing something original instead, I have no interest in that

 

Yeah I've been kinda disappointed in what she's been doing since Fleabag.

 

i know she had an overall deal with Amazon for writing/producing, and that this is supposedly the first thing that came from it after exiting Mr. & Mrs. Smith. surprising choice. was hoping for something original too.

 

In defense of Tomb Raider, she’s apparently been a huge fan since she was a kid. Can’t speak to any of her other choices but that one feels more organic to me

 

Like if you take away the legal hook is this going to even work?

I'd be much more interested in a sequel series to Election. I would love to revisit Tracy Flick.
