  1. Def top five for me. I’d put in the final arc of season 7, mortis, either narkina 5 or aldhani depending on my mood, last 5-6 episodes of rebels, and twilight of the apprentice.

It’s honestly kinda amazing how even if you separate out the different plot lines in the films, probably 8 out of my top-10 storylines live within Clone Wars and Rebels.

There can be so much more world and character building in the animated shows that def benefits them for me.

dang maybe I need to watch these shows lol. Haven't seen Clone Wars, Rebels, Bad Batch, Ahsoka, or even the latest Mando season. All I've watched is Mando 1-2, Andor, and Obi-wan

if you can get passed the animation style (it takes a bit to get used to), you won’t regret a second of it.

I would say the animation was easier to get over than how targeted at a younger audience the earlier seasons were.

But regardless, I agree, once you’re in to the good stuff, it’s all worth it.

It also depends what kinda fan you are a little bit. I looooooooove the lore stuff, so Rebels and Clone Wars hits such an itch for me lol.

The episodes where they visit the Lothal Jedi Temple are just so good for what I'm into.

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

almost everything set on Lothal in Rebels is insanely good. one of the best-realised planets in SW

One minor pedantic gripe about Star Wars expanded universe stuff. Twi'leks and Rodians are way overrepresented as alien species. There are thousands of spacefaring species in the galaxy, but it feels like whenever there is a scene with a bunch of stock alien characters at least 25% of them are Rodians and Twi'leks.

Also: I don't like that in the animated series that Greedo and Boskk can speak English now.

Also: I cannot stand Ziro the Hutt's voice. Hutts shouldn't speak English either.

There are too many Ithorians too, like we get it they look interesting because they have weird heads.

Also I like that in Clone Wars they acknowledge that some other characters think it's weird as hell when Anakin humanizes R2D2. Like that isn't actually normal behavior in this universe. They treat it like if you someone heard you call your laptop "little buddy" or something.

I was curious what other options there were, would love to spend some time with the Muuns.

I saw the Phantom Menace the other day. Everything bad is bad, but it’s so endlessly imaginative, I don’t care about its many, many violations of the rules of good movie.

I love how singular it is in fact. It swerves constantly, even as it frustrates

    Other random thoughts…

60s teen car culture is everywhere. The pod race is pure teen drag; you can picture an excited teen George getting his hot rod to start in those scenes

Jar Jar didn’t bother me really, but I don’t like his design

    Naboo costume design is A+

I gotta watch Eps 2 and 3 again, but I think the switch to digital kinda complements the cg better than the 35mm. Phantom Menace is relentlessly setty, and the effects to me don’t often blend well.

I don’t “like” the obvious sets and stiff acting, but there’s something interesting there in conversation with film history. There’s also a lot of sus filmmaking, and I think some interesting unusual choices are swept into that pile, but some of the visual reference to other movies or tropes are cool

Probably oughta mention i did doze off for a few minutes on coruscant…

On a season 3 episode about war profiteering, financial deregulation, and political lobbying. This show was supposed to targeted to children?

Also lot of film people have said that Lucas definitely based the podrace scene on the chariot race scene from Ben Hur
