    idk man

Yeah this album is scary. Many definitions of scary. Moss Covers All and Take Me Home are something special for this band specifically, and Piece by Piece is creeping in as one of my favorites of the discography.

Lots of thoughts. Many are good. Shall ruminate more this weekend.

The Chris Motionless feature is pretty easily the worst part of this, but otherwise very cool. Sit and mourn made me laugh out loud

i think this is pretty solid but feels kind of safe for them. singles are definitely near the top of the best songs on the album for sure. slaughterhouse 2... nah man lol

We reach for the longest shadow

This band is the best at making me laugh because a breakdown is so filthy, disgusting, fill in your favorite gross adjective here.

especially after playing to huge crowds at coachella and bonnaroo last year by all accounts they should've gone down a more accessible route and they came back with their nastiest sounding album yet like this thing is disgusting it is the opposite of music that makes you feel good. you dont get albums like this from bands in their position very often. its like jane doe.

We reach for the longest shadow

I know every review is mentioning it, but it’s so cool this is blowing up when they’ve compromised absolutely nothing in order to achieve popularity. I hope more bands follow suit.

The beginning of The Calm That Keeps You Awake gives me mega Korn vibes and I love it.

In some ways I think this is more accessible, but also not in a safe way.

theyre also some of the most hard working down to earth dudes in the scene and have been breaking their backs for years to get to this point, all while staying true to themselves and their roots. admirable.

the pitchfork review put it pretty well (bolded part is the fucking truth)

And yet, none of this means that You Won’t Go is inaccessible. Giving shape to aimless rage, the illicit thrill to imagine playing it for people who have no interest whatsoever in “metal” or anything that ends with “-core,” let alone “metalcore,” the way it makes metal that actively catered towards mainstream tastes sound washed and timid. As a teenager, I remember Far Beyond Driven or Life is Peachy getting on the charts by doing similar things. Or, just go look at those Coachella and Bonnaroo sets—Knocked Loose isn’t playing to empty tents of college kids wishing they were watching Matt Maeson or Jai Wolf instead. Whether Knocked Loose fits into anyone’s perception of what popular metal should sound like, they know they belong.

def getting the korn and pantera comparisons a lot
