Why does the promoter get sued?

heard that they’ll be held liable if the family tries to sue the venue. after the previous spinal cord injury there the venue has shifted liability to the promoter.

This discourse shifted that way in response to TE's original comments in this thread and from what I saw at large. Not defending them or their fans apparent toxic attitudes toward the topic, but forming opinions about a scene as a whole based on one freak accident just doesn't sit well with me.

Upon further reading, this apparently happened 20 seconds into the first song which was a choice on the TE singer's part.

Criminal and civil actions may still happen. This only happened last week.

I know this doesn’t happen all the time, so this isn’t a generalization, but I hate how some people in punk/hardcore/metalcore either want to be violent without repercussions (the incident where the furry (say what you want about furries but what that guy did was not cool) got sucker punched and ended up severely injured in the hospital comes to mind) or they wanna act like someone who gets injured in the pit should toughen up/deserves it/etc.

Like I said, this isn’t everyone but it’s disappointing that these people DO exist.

I get that people need a way to vent during shows and express themselves but crowdkilling is just stupid, especially when you do it toward people who are trying to be further away from the pit

I think if you NEED to stage dive at a show and you’re an adult, you’re a fuckin dork

    this is all there is

I think the main nuance to me is that if the frontman is gonna do it, he needs to be super obvious about it - I've seen Spencer from Underoath and Taylor from Local Natives both do it properly at plenty of shows, and it's not complicated - wave your arms, make sure people are looking at you with hands up, security is cool with it, then go for it.

However, sweaty dudes in the crowd? Forget it, you can take that stupid decision right to the floor for all I care.

Never listened to Whirr, but that is a really example of someone taking stock and re-evaluating the harm they caused.

  13. Yeah, good read. Never expected to get that level of honesty out of somehow like Nick Bassett. Obviously not up to me to forgive him for anything, but it's nice to see someone take accountability and attempt to set an example.

  14. Fantastic interview. The care put into those questions, the escalation, and the self awareness of the interviewer are all absolutely class. If there’s only going to be one real Nick Bassett interview, that person made sure they’d perform one that counted

This is the most unhinged interview.

    This stuck out the most:
“And I'm a lead singer. I'm a lead singer, dude. You guys want all your lead singers to be normal people like you so you can spend all your money to go see someone that looks just like you and acts just like you. Not the other way around. No, you spend money to go see a movie that's larger than life, bro. You're paying money to go see somebody that might throw a mic stand in the crowd, bro. You're not paying to go see somebody to chill. We're supposed to entertain you. We're the monkeys. We're dancing, bro. This is what we're doing, dude. Enjoy it. Enjoy the show.”

  16. read the meat of this and it’s very good. i remember talking about those facebook posts on AP which is nuts. it’s crazy that apparently half the people who were arguing in that thread are i guess just still arguing about Whirr to this day

I would take this with a grain of salt because it is some IG speculation and nothing confirmed, but interesting.

Also if you read the whole thread this is alleging that Drake rents out Dave & Buster's around the country for the purposes of meeting teenage girls

  22. Halitosis Jones

    Howdy y'all! Supporter

I think they they can with parental co-sign/consent. But also I think the OP is assuming it's an NDA, could also be just following legal advise (or of course it could be just cap)

  23. isn’t dave and busters a bar? can u just rent out a bar and because you rented it you can have minors in there?

It's a restaurant that serves alcohol, almost all bar & grill places allow kids. It's like Applebee's with skeeball and arcade games. Plus there is a picture of that 17 year old girl that said she legally shouldn't talk about Drake at a D&B's in the thread.
