For those that do like the album (and maybe even those who don't) I'd recommend checking out this live set they released last month, it's pretty wild

I'd love to see them live. Listened to Only Love and Untitled yesterday. Only Love may be the new favorite, haha

would recommend either that one or Ultrapop to @JM95 but he would probably hate those too tbh

  8. Patrick Shiroishi joining The Armed is one of my favorite things that's happened in music these last few years.

    Much prefer that.

From which might be inferred that I plainly didn't like the more melodic confection. But I don't think it was that per se. It just seemed that every time I thought I may be starting to enjoy one of the layers they instantly did something else I found obnoxious. And repeat listens and lyric reads made me recoil further, and I found the various choices suffocatingly self-conscious. That was my underlying irk essentially.

I like that track though. That bombastic, booting-the-doors-in hyper-noise is always going to feel less calculated. I listened to the studio version and it's hilariously loud so I'll check out the rest of ULTRAPOP.

Definitely prefer ULTRAPOP. I can see myself spending time with a few songs on there.

I’m going with Drunk Like Bible Times by Dear and the Headlights.

It’s the second and final studio album from the band. I think most prefer their debut, and to be fair that one has a few of their best songs, but for me this one is the more complete and interesting album. I remember discovering them around the time I graduated college in 2013 and then being immediately disappointed to find they disbanded after this one. They were a band, for me at least, that seemed to have incredible potential beyond even the two albums that I already love.

  15. Wow, haven't listened to this once since college. Excited to revisit!

Still need to listen to The Armed. It's been a tough week for me to listen to anything other than comfort music.

Also been trying to catch up on this thread after falling behind.

Believes in Patterns was an interesting album. The was a lot of great instrumentation going on. A few of the songs to felt a little aimless, like it was more of experimenting with sounds than anything else. It’s a band I would have loved to see with some budget behind the production to really bring the sound to life.

I loved Perfect Saviors. High energy pretty much the whole way through which was exactly what I needed yesterday.

Willetta felt more like an album closer than the fourth track odd choice. Especially to transition to whatever the fuck this next song is.

  21. One of those bands that I've had recommended to me many times but never actually checked out. Three songs in and this is very much my thing. Sort of a more raucous version of indie rock stuff like We Were Promised Jetpacks.

    Also doing catch-up

I actually use to really love Beliefs in Patterns, was really fun listening again. I'm not sure how I found them but it probably was from AP back in the day

Couldn't get into the armed album, felt pretty similar to Ryan. If you take the angst out of post hardcore it somehow becomes more obnoxious to me. Didnt care for the production either

I can tell Dear and the headlights would of been hit with a couple friends in 2008. It's pleasant enough for me, not a genre I usually search out but they're doing it well

I definitely listened to Drunk Like Bible Times back in the day, but none of it sounded familiar on this go around. I didn’t recheck the thread and listened to Heavy Hooves first (thinking that was the pick) and I still knew most of those songs. Kind of weird

but very solid album, shame they broke up
