Has anyone had professional training done with their cat before? I know it sounds silly but my cat has a biting problem and I’m struggling to fix it on my own. My ex encouraged it when he was a kitten and now as an adult, he bites hard enough to break skin. He bites me quite a bit and has bit anyone that comes over, so I need to do something to get him to stop. He’s a giant sweetheart other than the biting.

  10. Fostering this big boy for three weeks. He’s about a year old and has had kind of a rough life, currently super skeptical of my wife and I after a five hour day traveling here with strangers from the adoption org. Being patient with him and feeding him some potatoes from our soup :) his name is Oso

  13. Please send good vibes. We had to take one of our cats into the emergency vet because he has a urinary blockage and now he needs surgery. He has to stay with them for 48 hours so they can unblock him and get him on fluids. We're really scared because they have to put him under. $2500 and they expect us to pick him up and transfer him to our regular vet on Monday when the eclipse is happening (our city is in the path of totality, so traffic is going to be absolutely fucked, and work is going be furious about me taking off).

^ sorry to hear that. Hopefully your work is understanding. Not all older people get it, but pets are family and should be a valid and excused reason to have to take some time off.

Maybe the eclipse will have some mystical healing powers to help him through.

  16. Thankfully, they were. It hurt leaving him again, but I'm very optimistic we'll get to bring him home tonight:heart:

  18. Thanks so much bud  honestly the past few weeks have been so, so stressful for a variety of reasons, this emergency surgery just adding to that, but with the eclipse stuff coming to an end today (caused some work stress) and this band interview supposedly happening tomorrow with Boo set to come home tonight, I'm hoping to be feeling a lot better by the end of the week. Feeling blessed right now. The pet hospital even shaved off about $800, which still put us at 2k, but 2k very well-spent. We're fortunate we had the money to do it.

I really owe so much to this site and all of you guys for keeping me going when things are tough. Some of my favorite people in the world, I've never even met in person. Funny how that goes.

Hey everyone. I don't like asking for money, but long story short, my cat needs a second urinary blockage removed on top of potential surgery. We can use our savings to pay for the first part, but it's really not sustainable. (I will go broke before I "say goodbye" to my five-year-old cat as one vet callously suggested.) I know times are tough and money is tight, but if you have anything to spare or would even consider sharing this campaign, that would be hugely helpful.

This all happened after my mom was severely attacked by a neighbor's dog this morning, so I went straight from the ER to the vet. It has been one of the worst days of my life. Might not be around for a little bit. Thank you in advance for anything you may be able to do, I appreciate you all

  23. Our cat is on the way to the local vet hospital again because, despite acting normal, he's only peed once since bringing him home (and hasn't had a BM at all, but the FAQ sheet they sent with us said it could be 3-5 days due to medications and such). I'm so desperate for a win. I just need my guy to stabilize so I can fucking breathe. The best-case scenario is that he's not taking to the new litter and has been peeing in little spots around the room, which you'd think we'd smell, but we did have to move a cushion out of the room because felt damp and seemed like one of the animals might have soiled it - just couldn't tell how recent it would've been.

  24. Hey everyone. Update. I'm just going to post this one more time as there was an unfortunate (hopefully minor) complication with my cat's surgery and we are still fundraising to combat some of the medical bills. I absolutely do not expect anyone to donate, but if you happen to know a good place to share or someone who likes to donate to these things and has a few bones to spare, please feel free to do so. Prayers and good vibes are appreciated as well. Thank you

  25. I don't want to spam this thread, but my wife just called crying, and this is the update on our sweet boy:

"Boo was supposed to come home yesterday, but failed to pee on his own without the catheter. After eight days at the Millcreek Animal Hospital, they have decided to re-insert the catheter and keep him another four-five days. If he still fails to pee on his own after this, they said we may need to take him back to where he originally had his surgery so they can widen his urethra, but considering that's the place that somewhat botched his healing process in the first place, we're not sure we trust them and may need to look into alternative options. Fortunately, Millcreek has been great with us and worked with us to cut our costs with them specifically in about half, which is extremely helpful as we are still nearing 3k out of pocket.

...We are struggling. Every time I turn around, something horrible happens to someone I love. I am convinced I am either cursed or being punished for something, but that is neither here nor there. I am doing my best to get Jess through this while attempting to hold myself together, whatever that means. We can't in good conscience really ask for more money considering how wonderful and generous and supportive you have all been, but if there's somewhere you haven't shared this or someone you know that may be able to chip in, it would really help us to worry a little bit less about how we're going to pay for all of this. We miss him so much and will do anything to get him back home, happy and healing.

As always, any and all good vibes are appreciated. I can't think of a time I've needed them more."
