My lite can get extremeeeeely hot sometimes but I’ve never been told it has to cool down.

 

I had a day 1 switch fan die and it kept overheating every time I’d play. Eventually just got an OLED

 

My day 1 switch is still trucking along. Hope it lasts until the new system.

 

i got mine back in mid-2018, and somehow it's still chugging along fine (although i leave it docked 95% of the time).

 

Yeah that's around the time I got mine and it's still fine. Really only play docked because handheld feels like you're playing with a flimsy, cheap toy with zero ergonomics. Battery is pretty bad, probably like 2 hours

 

i somehow convinced myself that a car charger was worth buying a number of years ago (looks like a POW block). the only thing that's truly "broken" on mine is that some of the clasps on my Joy-Con railings don't hold as well as they used to, so with the right amount of force, the controller might be able to slide off without using the release button.

 

a great joy con that does not whiff out of the window while you're playing

 

I got an OLED too but honestly it sits in a drawer. Haven’t been playing much lately and my kid is rough on it so he gets the 2.0

 

I gave up on Origami King because i got too annoyed by the mechanics. Then I tried finishing Skyward Sword, and also quit because I got really annoyed by the controls, that one I might still finish later though.

Now I focused of finishing Captain Toad. Just finished Episode 2. So 28 courses left out of 64 in the base game.

I just recently splurged and got 3 Pokemon games i didn't have ( Scarlet, Pearl remake, and Arceus ) to add to the collection, so I am trying to get through as much unfinished stuff in my collection as I can before I start those.

 

Hades II is on steam as early access right now. Should we be expecting a Switch release soon?

Technically not sure. It’s way more demanding than hades 1. I would mentally prepare for this game to be a switch 2 title.

 

It’ll probably hit 1.0 around the time the switch 2 is announced/launch anyway right

Them saying "software" for remaining Switch games doesn't give me a good feeling.

I swear if this new console does not have backwards physical compatibility and just digital, I am going to stare at my case filled with hundreds of dollars worth of Switch cartridges and cry.

 

It will have the same roadmap at the switch did then. Announce in November/october. Releases in March most likely.

 

Fun fact: physical media, whether it's games, applications, or whatever, is still called software.

Hardware would be the Switch itself and any peripherals.

I'm not going to say you're wrong to be nervous, but not because of this.

 

I am hoping that even if Switch 2 has a different cartridge input/drive that they'd still let us digitally transfer our physical games over somehow at least.

 

the rumors i've seen for months now are that there's physical and digital backwards compatibility. i don't remember the sources, but some even mentioned that games - whether purchased digitally or physically - might get free next gen upgrades and graphical enhancements, similar to how it works on other consoles. not fully sure if Nintendo would avoid double-dipping altogether, but one can hope the system won't leave existing users completely in the dark.

 

Considering how much Nintendo banked on Wii U ports for the switch making people buy the same game again it's just got me worried .

 

i think the big difference there - at least physically - was the obvious lack of a disc drive. if they're banking on the same form factor/data storage concept, it logically makes sense to be backwards compatible.

 

Legends ZA is 100% a Switch 2 release title and I’m very interested in how it will look/function

 

If a xenoblade x port gets announced at the June direct I will replay all of the xenoblade games
