I randomly watched They're Watching on netflix and it was such a fun time. Sort of similar to Grave Encounters but with witches.

I closed October off with The Crow and the Halloween episode of Fairly Odd Parents. Not quite horror, but I watch straight up horror the other 11 months of the year. I was really vibing with the slight lie goofier, cozy stuff this year. In fact, after reading this post
I think I've got to fit this in before bed

I need to rewatch that one.

And They Look Like People, which I need to reaffirm if it's as good as I decided it was

I watched They Look Like People the other night and I thought it was great. I think I've said this before in here, but my favorite type of horror is about what humans can do to other humans.

wasn't too into Baskin. nothing really happens. the trailer makes you think they enter this building and it's just madness from there but it doesn't go down like that at all. I kept waiting for something that never came. it was actually kind of mild imo. they could have gone a lot farther with the concept than they did.

i kinda liked this movie, and it had a good heart, but surely there must be a better message to put together than "let your schizophrenic friend potentially kill you by feeding into his delusions"

    Doing fine. Prestigious

It really is much more of a slow burn than they let on. The finale was well worth it imo tho. The frog man was one of the more memorable antagonists I've seen in a long time.

    but does it djent?

That's where I got mine. They had the complete collection on Blu-Ray for $11 and since I hadn't seen the series yet I couldn't pass up 7 movies for that price.

We know it from the silence

Finally got to watching The Witch last night. I've heard mixed things, but personally I thought it was great.

It's one of the best horror films of the decade, and I've yet to hear criticism of it that goes anywhere other than "it was boring," which is hardly valid.

I really liked The Sacrament. harrowing as hell, especially having come from a background that had some light-cult-like characteristics (thankfully obviously nothing like this haha). a pretty fresh taste of horror, and very well-paced. if anyone's ever listened to the Jonestown massacre tapes, that stuff fucked me up, but this is a pretty good visualization of it if you ever wanted that.

    how is tales of halloween?

  25. Under the Shadow was pretty good. Great performance from the lead, Narges Rashidi. It's always nice to see poignant social commentary in a horror, even though I'm unfamiliar with a good chunk the subject matter in this case. All in all, a very strong effort from writer/director Babak Anvari, considering it's his debut full-length film. Definitely recommended.
