prolly not in terms of like instant death or anything, but you're definitely susceptible to intestinal tears and further complications that could result in it.

Flash forward to Forbidden Door 2024, Kenny, Ibushi and Hangman are getting overwhelmed by the new Elite.

“Wrestling has more than one Royal Family”

That happening in 2025 is more realistic but my god the pop would be nuclear.

More fun Cody moment at Forbidden Door would be MJF challenging Okada for the title, the run-ins and cheating MJF is somehow surviving, Gargano-like. "Wrestling has more than one Royal Family" hits....Cody walks in, crowd goes wild, he kicks MJF in the dick and walks out

I don't get the Kenny timeline stuff. He talked about settling things with Okada in a couple months, but I don't see how he'd be ready for All In if he still has to get surgery. You're talking months of recovery just to heal from the initial surgery, followed by a reverse colostomy. That's gonna be a couple more months of recovery. And after all that he'd still need time just to get in physical shape to compete.

So, this is where I can genuinely say I dont know how long this story has been in motion; but to go all Charlie from Its Always Sunny....

In January Meltzer got an update that Kenny hadnt gotten surgery for the diverticulitis due to "inflammation"; that report was the same week Perry debuted in NJPW tearing up his contract. Rocky Romero joined AEW's front office shortly after along with his expanded NJPW role, and about the same time they rescheduled the Winnipeg show from Apr 10 to May 1. Somewhere in that time frame, I'd guess on the earlier side, they settled on Bucks for the tag titles as Stings last match, the EVP role boost, and the best way to bring Perry back being what they did. All of this naturally sets up them losing to Sting (a thing they all wanted and he apparently didnt), a new tourney for the belts, and Perry's re-emergence to aid them.

Kenny starts streaming again in early March (and they basically leak that Kenny had a Brock Lesnar-type case...even though his 3 month absence kind of beautifully aligns with actually having surgery for a moderately severe case). There's a 0% chance he's taking the bumps he took tonight if its a shoot. Dude is almost certainly working in the stream and setting up this angle. And Dave is understandably trusting them to give legit health news.

I think they're all laughing their asses off that CM Punk both got hurt at the Rumble AND went off like he did and handed them the perfect opportunity to tell the story they were gonna tell anyway. And FTR (who comes to aid Kenny), are the guys that drop the "why are we showing this footage" promo.

That show change from Apr 10 to today is a HUGE blessing in retrospect even if it wasnt for story line reasons.

John // OC now, OH forever.

Kenny coming back and having a full speed war with Okada as a screw you to Punk like “this could have been you” is kind of hilarious.

With Kenny, I assume everything is a work until proven otherwise. From a booking perspective, it’s way easier to do a seemingly random Swerve/Christian at DON if you’ve also got Omega/Okada on the card.

  24. I think you save Kenny/Okada for your biggest event tbh

I’m good with that too. Maybe a six man with FTR and Kenny against Okada and the Bucks at DON then; you can somewhat protect Kenny if he’s not truly at 100% and still tease the bigger match for All In. Let FTR take the pin in a 6 man where it doesn’t really hurt anyone.
