You've had some very good posts and jokes over the years. But this might actually be your best one. 11/10.

I felt that way about blink-182 with Matt Skiba honestly. Whenever they would play Tom songs it just felt like really good covers

this. I think even last year at pre sale the list wasn’t up you just had to look up random shows and see if they had the “live nation concert week” promo listed.

Oh, for sure! It feels very strange. It's the sort of thing that can be done respectfully, and with care, and work out well for everybody involved. Or feel like a total soulless money-driven thing. And then there's the weird middle ground where it just sorta feels "different" and isn't better or worse... I feel pretty lucky where, when bands I enjoy have done it, it's mostly felt like a good thing where a member is replaced because they want to take time off but the rest of the band don't or whatever.

Hot Water Music in its current iteration is the best, coolest example I can think of. But I'm sure there's plenty where it's just pretty shitty. Haha.

The two who are supposedly not involved with the reunion are Rob (drummer) and Mr. Hahn.

  8. Yeah, HWM is the best version of it, where everyone seems to be happy with the arrangement.

I saw Boston after Brad Delp's death. I'm sure there were upset purists then too, but I had such a great time seeing those songs live, and it even felt a bit like a celebration of Brad's life and work. I'm sure seeing Linkin Park now would probably be the same way.

Well, the HWM one is interesting because Wollard is still technically in the band. He just doesn't tour with them. And they've also tacked Creswell on as an official member who records and writes with them. It's honestly kinda cool. Haha.

Less obvious, and arguably not exactly the same, but I've always thought the Descendents/ALL thing was pretty cool. It's the same band members sans the singers but there's zero ego or animosity between the singers to the point where there's demos of Chad Price singing on Descendents demos, Milo singing back-ups on ALL records, etc.

The way you described seeing Boston is exactly how I felt seeing Alice in Chains, though. It definitely wasn't Layne on-stage but I never got a chance to see them, the singer still sounded great, and it all felt like they just did the legacy justice.

Not to mention ALL have also played Descendents songs live and Descendents have played ALL songs live. There’s a video out there somewhere of Descendents playing Million Bucks on the Everything Sucks tour…

Controversial opinion, I always preferred the ALL demo of I Won’t Let Me over the official Descendents version. Chad’s vocals on that one hit different. (Speaking of, Chad also did backing vocals on Everything Sucks too!)

William kills it tbh. AIC’s post-Layne discography isn’t to be slept on

Yeah though AIC is a bit of a different beast since Jerry Cantrell was/is at least (if not more) 50% of the creative driving force in AIC

Please don’t call in Linkin Park. I’m fine with LP or Hybrid Theory, but do not call it Linkin Park.

  18. So LP will just be Mike and friends playing their songs. Pass.

hybrid theory would actually be cool and kind of appropriate.

Just let Linkin Park be. No one needs a half assed reboot. Its probably frustrating how little Mike’s solo projects have taken off but that doesn’t mean you need to tarnish the LP brand.

Nothing official has been announced yet, so I'm not gonna get worked up over this yet. Odd that the rumors are only mentioning the three members, but I would be surprised if all 5 aren't involved when this is made official.

Idk I've always thought it would be cool for linkin park to tour again. I don't want new music. But a rotating spot for a singer once a tour would be cool. Do a tour where like Amy lee is the singer or a tour where Courtney is a singer. And then get a new singer everytime they want to do a tour. Keeps things intesting and less people angry that they feel Chester is being replaced. Then it feels more like a tribute to linkin park. then a new band all together.
