  1. Yeah, I can't imagine it was anything more than a joke idea that he ran with.

I get it, sorta, but just would have been so out of sync with everything before it

For sure. Sometimes I like something like that, but you really have to nail the tone. Fargo Season 2 is the obvious reference point and might even be the inspiration for this alt ending, but Aaron West is way more grounded than that.

I think it's pretty damn funny and there's probably a cool story involved. Dan said there's a few lines on the record to "pop the boys", so to speak. Wouldn't surprise me if this is also that, in a way that it's well done enough to put it out there as a little Easter egg, but it definitely would not have been a satisfying conclusion to a very serious project.

  7. Shit, sorry, didn't really think about it because it's been so long since it aired.

I just read through the journal that came with my record. I'm glad that I listened a bunch before going through it, but it's a nice little companion piece (even if he got the date of the 2022 NYC show wrong). It would've been cool to have had something like this to go alongside the other records.

The alternate ending is fun for what it is, but the real one is exactly what it should've been.

I read through it last night, too. Definitely a fun little companion piece. Helps fill out the gaps a little bit, too.

My record was supposed to be delivered yesterday. Still not here today and the tracking info now says it’s at a USPS center that I have never had a package go through. Wtf.

I don’t know what the alternate ending is, but I think Dead Leaves is a perfect ending. It’s a sign of how incredible the storytelling is that it makes me feel a bit emotional when I hear it.

The alternate ending is not a serious alternate in my opinion. No chance Dan actually would have ever used that one. Still very cool.

Anyone know the venue code for Loneliest Place on Earth Fest?

Edit: Nevermind, found it. LPOEPHL if anyone else is wondering.

Watched the stream tonight. They sounded incredible. Loved how you could hear the various added instruments. God and Billboards was great in this setting but was bummed they skipped Winter Coats. Also wild they skipped Lead Paint and Salt Air since it directly references Asbury Park. Guess cuts had to be made somewhere.

Dead Leaves is honestly the perfect epilogue for the trilogy. He managed to give closure to the main storyline (Aaron and Diane) in such a wonderful way.

I watched the stream piecemeal over the last couple of weeks and it made me so excited to see them in June.

Made a playlist with every Aaron West song in order, and been listening on a couple of long drives recently.

My biggest takeaway is that I really under appreciated Routine Maintenance. What a phenomenal record.

And also, kinda crazy that I don’t think there is a bad song across the whole project.

    Things have changed.

"Monongahela Park" ... what a fucking song, man.
