i'd rather see meltzer and star ratings arguments than ratings discourse 10/10 times though lol

 

Now that I did say, but I do like Alvarez

 

alvarez has been fun to listen to lately especially when him and big dave start arguing for no reason

 

i think we'll reach a point where meltz stops giving out stars TBH but who knows. its crazy to look back on matches like '03 misawa / kobashi(the best match of all time) and realize they're rated the same as something like kyle fletcher vs ospreay on dynamite. then you start retroactively rating shit and it goes to hell. unc has dug his grave so either get rid of them shits or start going truly nuts and rate shit 9 stars

Meltzer needs to stop with the daft scores and just say 5 stars is top and you can’t get better. I know he can’t as he’s made a rod for his own back, but still. If he made it make sense, he probably wouldn’t have people mocking him. Not that he cares. Or matters.

Meltzer and ratings are both weak subjects of convos but i also refuse to let the tribalists take topics, this weeks Dynamite rating was genuinely interesting and good convo about how different markets were affected sprang from it.

 

re: dave i have a harder time putting my thoughts. there is no way dave could rate a play fight that could possibly matter, but ultimately adults need to consume the internet in ways that don't make them upset, and like no one is capable. Dave paywalls his ratings. i'm sure he would love if the people who cared paid and those who didn't care didn't pay, but it makes it to reddit and we choose to go look at it. that simple and the rest is on us.

i like looking at Dave's ratings every Thursday, it is part of my routine. his treatment of women's matches is nerdier than this thread combined. couldn't imagine caring to the point of emotions tho. old dude in an office.

 

No shot Dave ever stops doing ratings because that’s what draws eyes and he is in the business of people reading his opinions.
