This is a damn fine cup of coffee.

    So I kinda dig Nathan's girlfriend's opener.

This record is pretty pretty goooood. Omni is a standout for me.

    hmmm

I'll have to come back to this. I'm missing the explosiveness of DIAWB and I can't judge it on its own terms yet.

I'm with you. And i didn't even want a repeat of DIAWB. This just isn't really hitting for me on first spin.

    Not newbie, I think Supporter

I didn't like DIAWB because it was too hard and now this is too soft I think. The music just isn't edgy enough? I'll give it more spins though. It seems like a great background album, which for a band like this is a minor let down. It's good, it's not bad.

Listening to the full album makes me hate this rollout even more than I thought I did. Ferrari and Straw Hat work so much better in the context of the album.

I hadn't heard any of the pre-release songs until wednesday this week so everything is fresh to me. this is really good, the opening track threw me off a little but I didnt mind it. excited to listen more

Omni intro sounds like 2 Door Cinema Club in a great way.

    Easily my favorite track.

Need more time with this. Got into these guys shortly before DIAWB and didn't expect that same sound but a lot of these songs feel a little too muted. I also kind of hate that I heard half of the album over the span of the last year. Hoping this is a grower.

I could understand that. I saw these guys in a house in 2011 right after Stovall got released and have been hooked ever since.

Defiantly get the muted ~vibes~, but I understand how this could be a natural follow up after the agression of DIAWB.

I always felt like Much Love was the natural progression of Stovall, DIAWB was lets wear our heavy influences on our sleeve, and this is the lets hold our jammy influences on our sleeve.

Also, the intro on Strangers is the singer of Blis.

Been a fan since Stovall came out and will continue to be a fan, but the roll out of this album was completely botched imo. Circling the Drain and Straw Hat are great tracks and the high quality you come to expect from Nathan and the boys, but they've been out a full two years. They're so old at this point they sound out of place on the album. They should've been left off like Keeping Up and Georgia weren't a part of DIAWB. On top of that, Portals is an intro to the intro... and Concertito is an interlude.

There new tracks are cool, but they seem half-baked, and the album overall has a messy incohesive feel. It's impact is diluted, and the quality of the work is questionable given the almost 5 year wait since the last one.

Still, love the band and appreciate their growth as artists.

All of the new music is really good, but I hated this album rollout. Microwave’s my favorite band so I’m going to keep playing it like crazy, but I’m going to need a beat to get over my disappointment in the rollout before I can really evaluate the album for myself.

I don’t know how I feel about this. I hated the rollout. I think I like the album. It’s nice and pleasant. Seems like good songwriting after one listen. But I don’t know if this is the album I want from them

If Portals and Concertito were legit microwave songs as opposed to an album short hymn intro and an interlude, I think we'd all feel less underwhelmed or upset with the rollout.

I made my own playlist to re-sequence the album in a way that feels more fresh, at least to me. I put a lot of thought into it, seeing which tracks should follow one another sonically, in addition to the narrative of the album overall, while breaking up the old from the new. Portals works better as an interlude. Feel free to try it out.

I think it’s a little too early to be resequencing a record that’s been out for a day

I think this is a solid album, I think I’m just less excited because of the pre release songs.

Wish there was more new stuff but really love how the songs on this compliment eachother

Strangers is some of the coolest shit I've ever heard from them

I have a feeling that the band kept missing deadlines to start recording so the label told them to just release a single so they did.. 3 times over haha

It wouldn’t be as much of a bummer if the record was longer and/or if Portals and Concertito were more fulfilling tracks.

I enjoy this record a lot but we’re getting essentially an EP of new material at this point lol

never really thought of the politics of deadlines and what not but PN also released 4 tracks before release of Koyo, Prince Daddy and Cloud Nothings and it just seems unnecessary.
