“Driver’s License” is partially about Sabrina. Sabrina responded with a few songs related to her.

I just had to research what "coded" means in that context the other day, I'm old

  9. I'm with you. Like, even though I looked up what it actually means recently, whenever I see "ftfy" I think it's short for "for the fucking year" and I don't know why haha. I was just that clueless for a long time that it's stuck in my brain that way, and I always just let it slide because I figured I was too old to "get it."

Does anyone else find the Kim song (thanK you aIMee) bad? Taylor is obviously allowed to process her trauma from that whole situation how she wants to, of course, but I feel like she’s released better songs regarding that situation. Also I feel like there’s only so many times you can rehash that situation before it becomes stale, at least in terms of hearing it in a song. I know Kim never apologized and clearly it still bothers Taylor, but I dunno, Kim hasn’t said anything bad about Taylor at all (aside from the incident) so it feels very much like one person not shutting up about the time they were bullied and the actual bully having moved on (which she’s allowed to do, but idk, I have conflicting thoughts haha)

Also bringing up Kim’s kids in a way where they will now probably feel conflicted about listening when they weren’t even old enough, or alive, to remember everything that went down or have any opinions on it didn’t feel like the best move.

tl;dr - What does everyone think of thanK you aIMee?

  15. Probably been said before she really might be channelling Phoebe Bridgers lyrically a bit here. That "like who uses typewriters anyway?" line is very much in her vein.

The Kim/Kanye stuff clearly had an extreme impact on all aspects of her life, for a long time, in ways none of us will ever understand. I think this song is showing that she's come to peace with what happened and how it since shaped her as a human. She's absolutely warranted to make even more songs or albums about it, artists write about their lives and this was one of the most impactful things that happened in hers

I am very happy I chose The Black Dog variant for my vinyl purchase. I like that track the most out of the four and I was intrigued to get a black vinyl from her since everything she releases is color variants. Turns out "ink black" is more of a very dark brown color, but still cool and my copy sounded flawless.

and that’s fair, I just find the song not good (compared to a song like Long Story Short) and not something I will probably ever return to, but like I said she’s allowed to feel how she feels of course.

My armchair psychology is that I think taylor wants to be a 'shake it off' type but she's not. Negative criticism gets to her and always has. She's always had haters just like any public figure will, especially young female popstars who historically aren't treated great. The kim situation I feel was the only time she actually felt threatened her image. Like truly tarnished by a wider audience in a way that questioned her character. And she is allowed to have feelings about it. But I also feel shades that she can dish it but can't take it so it's a bit exhausting. She did the same thing to Camilla belle and Katy Perry, knowing she's more popular than both and how her fans protect her. With Camilla, she was young and clearly doesn't think that way anymore, but it was very apparent by 1989 that Taylor had either not actually ever apologized to Camilla, or at least camilla hadnt accepted it. Maybe to Taylor the sticking point really is the lack of apology from Kim, so she could see them as different because clearly she and at least Katy have mended, although Taylor publicly never took any accountability for it and blamed it on the media when she very much caused and stoked that fire in an intentional way that she then blamed on sexism, which was very irritating to me.

Tl;dr I think Taylor is a normal flawed human and I do enjoy the song lol
