Finished the new season last night. San Junipero was by far the best episode in concept, execution, and emotional impact for me. Shut Up and Dance was the only episode I didn't really like. Need to re-watch the first 2 seasons to do a series ranking.

    1. San Junipero
    2. Nosedive
    3. Playtest
    4. Hated in the Nation
    5. Men Against Fire
    6. Shut Up and Dance

    EDIT: lol

Watched the first 4 episodes of Season 3 last night. Thought Shut Up and Dance was BY FAR the best one out of the four, but I appear to be in the minority. Very dark and twisted, kept me on the edge the entire episode. Also, anyone know what the song was near the end?

I like the premise of Nosedive but thought it wasn't executed as great as it could have been. Playtest was probably my second favorite and San Junipero was great as well.

Looking forward to finishing the season this weekend.

Men Against Fire Not really into this one at all. The concept and reveal was heartbreaking and fucked up, but it took a while to get there and I wasn't really pulled in by anything

I liked Men Against Fire but I saw the twist coming a mile off, so it didn't have that big of an impact on me like most Black Mirror episodes do.

I saw the twist coming, but I think that added to the impact.

Working my way through these now. Just finishing Playtest, thought both of the first two have been stellar.

I only have "Hated In The Nation" left and my step sister is staying with me this weekend, I want to get her into the show because I know she'll like it overall, but is this a bad place to start? I have seen mixed reviews in here. I want to finish the series, but I don't want to start her with an episode that's "off brand" or that people don't like as much

It's probably my least favourite of the season but I still think it's a good episode, I think the main issue is it's too long so it starts to drag at parts.

I'd say it's very much "on brand". Even alot of the reviews have said this is probably one of the most "Black Mirror-ish" episodes this season in terms of theme. It kind of takes on a different genre than other episodes but the universe it inhabits and the themes it tackles are very familiar.

I know the main criticism is that it's too long, but I knew that going in and had the mindset that I was pretty much watching a feature length Black Mirror film, so i really didn't mind the length at all.

Also if you're a fan of Scandinavian crime drama shows then this episode is for you. Brooker has said that this was his take on that genre and aesthetic.

I went in treating it like a film as well, I just don't feel like it justified the length or remained interesting for the entire time.

I loved Shut Up And Dance. Big fan of the reveal and how it makes the viewer feel.

Ended up watching it. Wasn't an all-timer for me, but it was certainly good.

Then we watched The Entire History of You and White Bear. ;-)

Weakest season so far for me through San Junipero, with that one being the strongest episode. Really hated Shut Up and Dance, Nosedive could have been a good 15 minute short but instead it was so on the nose for so long I wanted to turn it off, and Playtest was ok--kind of par for the course for a very enjoyable show. Hopefully the last two are stronger but I can't complain. Fun stuff.

Nosedive is the only one I've seen so far. It's fine. It doesn't stray as far into "makes u think" territory as I kept expecting it to, but it's probably not one of the better episodes either. Howard definitely helps sell a lot of it.

Just jumping in to say Playtest was so engrossing. Didn't love the ending, but the execution of everything else was perfect.

Come to think of it I never started the second season.

Like Nosedive, I thought the premise of Men Against Fire was intriguing, but wasn't necessarily executed that great. Out of the five I've watched so far, Men Against Fire had me the least interested throughout most of the episode. Pretty boring, really.

Only one more to watch (Hated in the Nation). Can't say I'm really excited about it because it seems to be getting mixed reviews compared to all the other episodes.

Overall, I'm not quite sure this season has lived up to its potential.

I have seen up through San Junipero. What a great episode that was. Only critique would be Kelly's speech. Nosedive didn't do much for me, but I may need to re-watch it. I started with the third season totally unaware there were previous seasons or what the idea and intentions were. Now that I have more context of the show, I may need to give Nosedive a second chance.
