I think of it more as “you have a budget of $50M — find me a starting QB”, but you’ve already used $53M of that budget on paying Russell Wilson to not play for you and you still unfortunately have to dress someone at the position.

You can argue “I guess I can spend $3M and a late pick I don’t have to poorly fix it — what’s $3M on credit?” but don’t have the space or capital to make any of those moves that might actually fix it. And then you’re in $3M worse of a space for next time

 

I'd probably be more sympathetic to that argument if it was like drafting a 3rd round QB or something. But spending $3 million on credit on someone who actively sucks and we know sucks only tells me you're not actually worried about it lol
